That's a Leslie 145 (the short cabinet version of the 147 that also includes the 147 amp). The upper and lower rotor don't need a back cover. However, the back cover of the middle compartment is essential to the woofer. The Leslie is basically a bass reflex cab with a compression driver feeding a horn.

@randie9480 I own a 1957 C3 and just had my old oil waxpaper caps at the tonewheel generator replaced. These caps will cause the organ to get quite dull over time and have increased leakage (i.e., noises caused by unfiltered voltages present at the tonewheel pick-ups). In addition, my organ developed a constant whistle that got quite annoying, especially at high volume levels. Rebuilding the A0-28 tube preamp (including the replacement of the big filter caps next to the power transformer) didn't help. It was gone as soon as the generator caps were replaced. Now, the organ sounds very bright but that's fine with me since I'm a rock player. However, I really prefer the 50ies Scanner Chorus line box to the unit Hammond introduced in the 60ies. The difference in sound quality is tremendous which is why it had to be a 50ies Hammond for me. By the way: The very combination of a Kustom amp with a Leslie shown in this video is what Brother Jack McDuff used back in the day to get his magical Hammond sound.

Right from the first note I started thinking "Texas Blues" and whenever that subject comes up you can't miss talking about you-know-who (Stevie Ray Vaughan). Up until discovering the Leslie speaker system, I had just assumed that the Hammond organs were synonymous with this setup. I had no idea that they were/are used for guitars, and presumably other instruments as well. Very interesting effect that is probably not too widely known.

Same here with me. Thank God for out-of-the-box ideas. TBH, I hate them with organs. The original purpose, was to get the Hammond (and any electric) organ, to sound like a theater organ's tremulants (i.e. its singing voice). As an old organ hater, now I know (after all these years), about the way they sound. Guitars certainly sound better. I've heard vocals and synths thru Leslie cabinets as well. The actual speakers were provided by Jensen (early on, pre-60s).

Leslie wavy sound sounds so nice

Absolutely amazing. I love that sound,especially with a bit of overdrive “ala” Deep Purple. So you modified your amp to accommodate a leslie cabinet that isn’t even yours???

I don't own the Kustom head or the Leslie cab. Both were brought to me to repair.

Cool strat too. Ash bodies, black pickguard. Shit's cool
@Oneness1004 жыл бұрын
run it through a flanger AND a Leslie and see what happens. There's a sound used on Eric Clapton's recording of The Core and that's what it sounds like they are using. Check it out. If you do know what they actually used on that song, let me know, but it just sounds like they were using both for certain sections.

I believe this is a 145 cabinet, the 147 cabinet is much bigger. Perhaps with a 147 amplifier in it?
@SuccessfulM.D.2 жыл бұрын
Yes. The 145 is the shorter version of the 147 with the exact amplifier. Same as the 122 with the 142 being shorter.

Gotta ask if you can specifically ID that strat, love the body on that one the plain wood color is beautiful especially with those off white pickups
@keithb72 жыл бұрын
I customized and built up that Strat myself. It was a Made in Mexico Black with white pick guard. I stripped it and stained it. IT has Fender Custom Shop '54 pick ups. A Calahan bridge. I picked the colors and stain myself.

Awesome...clarify a doubt my friend ... is there any switch that splits Chorus and Vibrato, as we usually see on pedals that emulate the leslie effect? thank you and Merry Xmas
@keithb75 жыл бұрын
Vinnie B I don’t recall any switch as you mentioned. This Leslie was worked on last year. I gave it back to its owner.
