I will always adore that moment at 18:12 where Leslie hears the results of the recount. Just a still shot on Amy Poehler's face as she reacts to the news, hanging her head when she thinks it's a loss, then just a smile when she hears she did it. And then she starts shaking her head as it sinks in, and she recognizes Ann's trickery. It's a masterful directing choice, god this show was amazing. That moment alone was its second peak, and then it just kept having so many more.

Rob Lowe also just nails that character. There are moments in that arc when he needs to be serious, and he just nails it. The viewer never questions whether he loves Leslie and Ben more than he loves his position. He loves them equally and his actions reflect that. I've seen so many other shows that have characters act in irrational ways when their consideration of two moral principles are challenged, but this show walked that line really well here.

If just a couple people per city government were like her in real life you know our country would be so different…
@ethanstump11 ай бұрын
I'm going to say something weirdly both optimistic and pessimistic at the same time. There are far more Leslie knopes than people know about, yet we all know that those people are sued, investigated, defamed and ultimately.... Give up. While Leslie's indomitable will is magnetic and infectious on screen, as someone embodies the phrase "inside of every cynic, there's a disappointed idealist", I know more than most that the system is crushing regular people in far more ways than the average person could ever discover, and I know that I could easily double that number if I cared enough to dig deeper. And that's not even mentioning the things above my pay grade, the ways people are being screwed that I couldn't even know of. We need more than a few Leslie knopes, someone willing to guide a flawed system to being a little less flawed, we need a lot of people willing to build an entirely different system.

No, its correct, because in the process, she had an innumerable amount of collective failures from PR blunders to logistical oversights. The end result often worked out in her favor.
