I vaguely remember reading something about a "Sonic Heroes" programming error where the computer characters would automatically go collect a ring if the player ran out, but they didn't properly code it so the computer characters would accidentally ruin ring trails that the speed characters needed to follow. Hence Tails running forward and grabbing rings ahead of Sonic.

18:43 - This moment had me rolling on the floor laughing when I saw it for the first time, so much so that I missed a hidden gem in here. After he dies, Team Dark is inexplicably selected and it warns you that it has more difficult stages and it's meant for intermediate players. So stages with small platforms, pits everywhere and railings taking you around like a rollercoaster in a game where seemingly every button makes you jolt 20 feet in any number of directions causing you to fly off the stage is apparently for beginners if the Team Dark stages are for intermediate players. This game is a car crash in software form.

Team Sonic is the normal difficulty, Team Rose has shorter levels and Team Dark has levels with more difficult enemies to defeat. Arin's issue is that he kept using the Rocket Accel on narrow platforms Sonic Heroes is a game that punishes players for not playing "correctly" and not using the game's mechanics to their advantage.

Oliver Xu well I mean if you think about what happened with Sega during this point it’s really the best that could have happened. Sega just went 3rd party at this time and the development of heroes in a nutshell was hard because they had to make an entire new game using diffrent hardware with a new engine that was designed for GameCube and Xbox and using said engine could be then reworked for the ps2 (the last gen hardware) it’s even worse on the pc version of this game I think with voice clips not even being said because of programming issues. But yeah arin went out of his way to play the worst version of this game just to mock it. The game cube is told to be the best and controls much better and looks better and runs better. This game on ps2 runs hardly at 30fps with almost less than 480p resolution while GameCube is constant 60fps at 480p (or 480i) with hardly any issues with camera or controller issues as well. Edit: wow as soon as I hit reply I heard arin talk about that big tester. I didn’t eve know about that shit he mentioned tho I kinda suspected it especially with the whole pc issue I mentioned and it even makes sense with that letter burn in issue that happens as it wouldn’t affect beating the level. But still arin brought on a lot of this stress for viewing pleasure and to make the game look much worse than it is. The GameCube version is told to be much better and the best version to play if you do.

I mean, Arin always deliberately goes out of his way to play the worst version of every Sonic game - the PS3 port of Sonic '06, the PS2 port of Shadow the Hedgehog, the GameCube port of Sonic Adventure, the Wii port of Sonic Unleashed. He knows he's subjecting himself to cruddier graphics and wonkier physics and poor hit detection and crappy controls. He knows he's not paying attention to what the game tells him to do. He makes the worst possible experience for himself on purpose because he believes we'll enjoy that more - that we'll enjoy laughing at his misery and calling him stupid. Again, I don't want to attempt to psychoanalyze the guy. But man, it's interesting that that's where his head is, that he tries to make us happy by presenting himself as the world's stupidest person. And I can't help but worry about him sometimes when he freaks out at these games he claims to love. I kinda wonder how much of his mental breakdown in this playthrough was sincere.

I remember this one glitch I'd run into probably 9 times out of 10 times in enter the dragonfly was when I'd try to enter Cloud 9 and the screen would just remain black with the sound of the whirlwind playing. That bug was easy to deal with as you just had to reload your save and that'd typically fix it. Unfortunately though I didn't own a PS2 memory card ages (it took a few years after owning my PS2 before I finally got a memory card for it) which meant I'd have to beat games in one sitting. Which meant every time I ran into that glitch I'd have to stop playing and loose all my progress.

When Arin said he gets PTSD feelings whenever he nears an edge... I *completely* share his feelings. Even just watching it, I get those feelings. Whenever a game has a shitload of bottomless pits, I tense up and get the Fight/Flight response; it's why I will never beat Propeller Knight's stage. I... just can't do it... it's too much... It's why I like Kirby and Shantae, cuz I can just nearly infinitely fly over that horseshit. How I ever completed this game as a kid without getting hospitalized is a mystery to me.

I can’t believe I was able to motivate myself to 100% this game a year or so ago, immediately understood and empathised with all of Arin’s struggles with this game. Casino Park and BINGO Highway alone are some of the worst experiences that can be had in all of gaming history. Honestly still fun game for the most part, at least if you’re a total Sonic nerd like me. Otherwise you won’t know how to play it cos it straight up doesn’t tell you how 70% of the time.

@@mistersureshot1749 You're right. "Shit game" doesn't begin to encapsulate the pan-galactic trashfire that is Sonic Heroes. I say that from personal experience. It's honestly kind of a crime that they never got around to any of the Special Stages, I would _pay_ to see Arin's reaction to those.

I would also love a compilation of sonic heroes out of context 🤣 Dan randomly singing a potato flew around my room, Sonic somehow veering off into the abyss and cutting it just as Arin screams. Arins 'loose my mind, loose my mind,' cutting to him actually loosing his mind and yelling at everyone to unsubscribe! This playthrough was amazing! 🤣
