This is beautiful! I love your style and the way you explain things. I’d love to see a comparison video about the pros and cons of both gouache and oil painting. What you like about both mediums. I’ve never tried oils but I’m curious about it!

This was so beautifully presented and rendered with your uasual distilled broadstrokes and tone control. Someone said that "tones do the heavy lifting but colour gets the glory" I see so much here that applies equally to gouache work. I do have your brushes btw, they're beautifully designed and I additionally like that their muted colours aren't distracting. And I'm about to break them in! So - Kind Thanks Emily - for all you do, these are truly polished broadcasts from every respect and you of course have so much to offer. - John (Ottawa)

Hi John, thank you for your lovely comment and for ordering a set of brushes. I would love to hear how it goes with them! I'm glad you are happy with the design and colours. I was hoping they wouldn't distract from the painting process. I also think it's helpful to see our colour mixes next to a neutral grey. It's also wonderful to hear that I have a viewer from Ottawa, as I was born there. Thanks again and happy painting! 🎨

Thank you so much Ester, and thank you for the beautiful reference! I saved your photo from the group ages ago and have been meaning to paint it for a while! 🫶

Yup. The stick is a must for big areas. It could also have a bit of chamois type cloth held over the tip with a rubber band. Try it and you'll see the advantages. Also you'll discover some new tricks for doing lines.

Emily, thank for your inspiring video and sharing your process with so much fun and joy! God bless your art and your life. That´s a beautiful portrait! It reales deserve to be hang up on a wall and be admired!! Congratulations!! Just a fun fact, when I saw the beginning I was so confused cause I thought it was a gouache painting - and then it turns clear that you paint in gouache too! Cheers from Brazil!!

Thank you so much for the very kind comment! It's very cool to hear that you originally thought this was a gouache painting. I love working in both oils and gouache and I often find the painting process to be similar in many ways!

Great painting. Oil was my first medium that I got into. Don't ask me why at the age of 10 I wanted to start with the trickiest medium lol. Now I'm doing watercolour and I would like to try gouache based on the inspiration your videos provided. I just need to kick my own butt into actually trying it.

I'm going to start oil painting soon (after a years and years long break), and so I was excited to see this! Beautiful work. May I ask why you keep so much paint just sitting on the palatte? Thank you for sharing your work and process!
@emhuesart3 ай бұрын
That's so exciting, it's like getting reacquainted with an old friend! 😊 There's no special reason for the paint on the palette, it is just dried paint from the past year or so. But because they are oils, there is still some usable paint below the crusted surface! I also keep them as a sort of a placeholder for where to put my paint colours on the palette 🎨 Thanks for watching!!
