to answer your question... personally, im literally here for your art. i only paint and draw for fun from time to time, but watching others creating art brings me joy and peace, so whatever you decide to do, that i will be watching ✨💕

I'm so excited to see some beginners tips for oil painting from you! I'm dying to get into oils and I love your painting style Emily ♥ The thing you mentioned about our brain knowing the local colors messes with my head so much when I'm painting! It's like I'm compelled to paint it the color I know it really is and that ruins the atmosphere so much, you put it into words so precisely!

I love your oil painting videos!! I’ve been using oils for about two years now, but I still feel like such a rookie with them so I love seeing your process! I totally understand where people are coming from when they’re worried about fumes, since I definitely had the same fears, but learning that you can paint with traditional oils without solvents changed the game for me. I do still use heavy metal pigments (cadmiums are just so beautiful), but since I don’t use solvents, I don’t really have to worry about absorbing it through my skin. Just wash your hands well and don’t eat it!

I always love using an acrylic wash before I start laying down some oil paint, it really doesn’t impede the process and it’s so easy to apply, highly recommend you give it a shot 🥰 beautiful work!

Middle of November, in my opinion, is still Pumpkin season! Also, I love your oil videos. I just picked a reference today to start an oil painting. I haven't painted with oils in over a decade and I'm excited to get back into it, hopefully starting next week! I would LOVE if you did an introduction to oils series! So much.

As a parent of teenagers, it gets better. I'm finally able to go into the garage and make things for an hour or so. Plus I get to take the kids to the art store without worrying about them breaking anything. Good luck!

Thank you so much! ❤️ I can only imagine how challenging it must be with little ones around! I’m always impressed by my friend who paints in the evenings after her kids are asleep-I think I would just be too exhausted. 😴 I hope you can find some time to paint soon! Thank you for watching!

Oil painter here! Really enjoyed the video- you're so thoughtful with your brushstrokes, which I need to learn from. I used to use regular oil paints and switched to water mixable a few years ago. The water mixable smell a little funny but I love them, and they still have pretty good texture. They also dry a little faster than regular oils ( the surface of a painting gets pretty dry within a few days, in my experience, but I tend to use pretty thin layers).

To answer your question, I absolutely love this style of video! I would also love for you to demo the water soluble oils in a similar vid. I've just put them (Royal Talens "Cobra" or Holbein "Duo" set) on my Christmas Wishlist. I'm a watercolourist but my style of painting definitely lends itself more to oils. It's the one medium I'm yet to try so would love a brief "how to". Also, I'm stuck in bed (unwell) and I STILL have your brushes by my side as I try to "art" from bed 😆 Cheers Emily x

Never painted with oils. My main reason for being intimidated is the time. I used to be based at an art studio in London, and many artists worked with oils but it felt like they were working on paintings FOREVER. I'd definitely watch your oil painting videos (I do already), but you should create the videos that bring you joy IMO. And, this came out gorgeous, as always.

I have painted twice with water mixable oils and never with traditional and I do prefer gouache but I do like the idea of painting with oils. It's just I'm too lazy. I like watching oil painting videos but I watch all of your videos and as for the subject, I tend to binge watch a years worth of videos in a few weeks so it doesn't bother me 😅 also I have adhd and music really bugs me so I prefer chatty videos. The painting came out beautiful!

Wonderful to hear you talk theo ugh gour process and connect it with the brushstrokes as you work on specific parts. It's learning while watching. I use oils ut find the set up and cleaning often stop me using them as often as I'd like. There is a unique quality to working with them and they are more forgiving than so.e other materialsike watercolours for example. The colours are rich and deep and they stay workable for ages. But like you say. The fumes. The fuss and so on don't helo. Beautiful picture. Really enjoyed 🎉
@emhuesartАй бұрын
Thank you Liza! I always enjoy hearing your thoughts. I find that keeping my oil palette out and visible, makes me want to paint more. I've been trying to use my gamsol less because of the fumes, but it is so convenient for cleaning brushes during a painting session 😅 I've also been really enjoying gamblin's solvent-free gel as my medium for painting, as there are no fumes and it has a really nice consistency. Thanks again! 💖

@ it's less about the music as it is the intrusiveness of the music. Usually KZbinrs have the volume up so loud you can't understand the voiceover. You seem to have the balance about right do I wouldn't worry either way.

I am the one, I don't see many oil paintings video, because I think I'm not understand them, and one of the cons for me, is they need odorless mineral spirits...or thinner, and I want to avoid them because, it's harmful for the health. Did you said there were water-soluble oil paints? Thats great! It would be great an introduction of oil paintings.❤ and I love this oil painting you made! As always so beautiful!

I love how oils look but I don't see myself switching from watercolour and gouache. Mostly due to asthma but I also feel like I'm still learning my current mediums.
