My PepperBall TCP was my first launcher and here I chronicle my experience with it from the first purchase to new barrels and mags. It's been a 4 year adventure and there are some well earned bits of information and tips that I need to pass along. When considering self defense tools, launchers are abundant. It's often hard to decide just what will be right for you. There isn't a Less Lethal store where you can go in and try them out. It's all word of mouth and videos like mine that aim to cut through the hype and let you know if something is standing out from the crowd and worthy of your money.
Money is tight for everyone. Make smart purchases and get only what is a significant advance over what you got. A little more of this or that isn't going to cut it for me. I have a lot to say in this one.

You and me both! I have what I think I need. Now I just look for something that is heads above everything else. I don't need another of the "me too" launchers.

Once I got the Gavle, I was pretty set. I have a couple of other launchers, but I prefer to have a few I really use and just avoid the "Money Pit" trap you mentioned (same thing with firearms, btw). I also wanted the best "out of the box" product, too. I didn't want to have to buy something that required extra $ for upgrades.

Gavle could be it. But then once everyone gets comfortable with it, the Solstice will come around the corner. I'm still running with the TCP but something new will catch my eye one of these days.

I started with HDR, the next week I bought an S2, and graduated to the TRP! If I had known what I know now, I would have skipped the HDR. HDR is moded and puts out 50 plus joules but it is more of a toy. The S2 is fun and the TRP is home defence. I am commited to only buying 68 cal handguns. The Gavel I am on the fence, not a fan of the ammo load mechanism or the twist to puncture. I hope the Solstice address these issues. The TRP checks all the boxes. If the Grinburg Solstice doesn't check all the boxes I will buy a second Pepperball TRP. Having two six shooters is better then having to reload. I am keeping my HDR for play and plinking.

@ScaredyCatTactical , my pleasure. I wish I had come across your channel sooner, it would have saved me some money, but more importantly, time. One thing is for sure: Less Lethal is an addictive hobby 😉

I always say Less Lethal Launchers are like potato chips. You can’t have just one 🤣🤣 Great point. I think we are all victims of this

It's true. I don't like to accumulate lots of "stuff" to maintain but I still like some variety.

I think an indoor less lethal range/ store would be great. It be fun, it be a great place to take a date. Like the gun range. But it can be done anywhere. I actually am thinking of doing it in my area

Just when I think I am done adding to the collection, Jon over at Alternate Arms Self Defense puts out that video on the new Paradigm launchers. Now I want one of those as the Grail of my collection. Then I might be done buying.😅

Those Paradigm launchers are aptly named. That's the type of innovation I like to see. The days of retrofitting paintball markers for self defense are numbered.

Okay you've convinced me to go on a spending spree for more Less Lethal launchers 😮 I have my Byrna Hi Viz, my Unarex 40J HDX, and my EDC LTL Bravo. I think I'm done for now, but that LTL Charlie is just around the corner as is the Grimburg Solstice 😭

Ha ha. There's always one or two more out there we're really tempted to buy. I am the same. I am really looking forward to the Solstice too. It just seems like it's going to fit a niche.

@ScaredyCatTactical is there any info on the Grinburg Solstice?
@Joreel
@Joreel 2 ай бұрын
@@Sola_Scriptura_1.618 Unfortunately Grimburg took down all the info on the Solstice after Shot Show 2024. Guess it wasn't as ready for prime time as they thought so they've pulled it back to 2025. This is all we know so far.

Umarex is definitely a cost-effective option. Despite my concerns, the alloy metal seems to hold up at high pressures.

Compared to what it cost to shoot a real fire arm. I'll take the less lethal gun any day.

Firearm ammo and range time is expensive! You are right. I train with a T4E replica most of the time for the muscle memory and because it’s dirt cheap for CO2 and reusable ammo. But nothing replaces real time spent at the range.

LOL. It's a strong pull. I feel it too. But I'm also a minimalist at heart and don't like to accumulate redundant things. When I see something that stands out from the crowd though I'm much more likely to bite.

Having a less lethal option is a good idea even if it’s weaker in power. It’s just legally-wise when justified.

It's a hobby like anything else. You spend just as much on other things why not on something that protects you and is fun legal

Yes, that's how I looked at it initially. But then it's hard to define when to stop. If you love it then do it. I find that maintaining more than a couple air-powered launchers becomes a bit much. I can't imagine how folks keep dozens of them from collecting dust.
