another way of viewing 'there have never been rules for unionising' is to say that there have always been implicit and unspoken 'rules' governing relationships but that they were embedded in patriarchy, feudalism, and a host of other 'isms'.

I had to stop the video at 37min. You are saying you promise it's not a deeper issue. In my experience I disagree. My wife of 10 years could NEVER talk about anything that was on her mind. She had several affairs and her avoidance and contempt and lack of respect for me was palpable in the room on most days. If I ever approached her with a soft start up , gently, and asked her what was upsetting her she would shut down and walk away from me to another room or get in her car and leave. Every time. Tell me there wasn't a deeper issue.
