We talk about some of the things concerning potential and current Land Rover owners and whether they are for you or not. Do they get stolen all the time? Can you insure them? DO they always break down? Can you afford to run one? Hopefully this video covers a few basics around those topics so you can decide. Thank you for watching.

Both houses & cars have become too expensive for most Americans these days, most especially for single people and/or single-income households. Even a lot of 2 income households can't afford them.

This issue has been exacerbated by the practices of insurance companies, which can have negative effects as well. Some insurance companies may contribute to rising prices by providing coverage that encourages risky lending and speculation. Additionally, certain insurance policies can be expensive, making it even more challenging for families to secure affordable properties. It's important for individuals tor consider diversifying their income streams, independent of government reliance, as a wise approach in the current situation.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day invt decisions being guided by a invt-coach, seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using a invt-coach for over 2years+ and I've netted over 1.5million

people tend to lean towards spending money on things that don't generate income, like liabilities, rather than investing in assets that can bring in profits. It's important to understand the long-term benefits of investing in assets and making wise financial decisions.

I disagree with low miles. Just because there’s a sweet spot just after 100,000 where all sorts of maintenance like turbos and any belts and stuff should have been done by then. I’d rather have a higher mileage car with packs and packs of receipts for work done than a low mileage one with nothing been done

Nice video. Driven by over achieving local building contractors everywhere 😄 It’s no different to any big, expensive car over the years- the older they get, the used price looks attractive but people do not realise how much they cost to run and start missing services or proper repairs etc and then if you get bad press like RR are having at the moment they become very difficult to shift I imagine…

I live in Portugal now and 100k miles is considered just run in , cars are sold with 500,000 miles on the clock and u still get a min 18 month warranty ... But Portugal has no fleet market and that is a major reason for the market in UK with people obsessed with the needless pursuit of a new car every 3 years ..

There are a lot of stories about fully serviced Range Rovers with full history in sale in good used car stores that have had issues with their engines so to just say these haven't been properly serviced is wishful thinking. You were lucky, many aren't due to bad engines. RR are well known to have a rather big probabilty of engine breakdown before 100.000 km. That is not ecceptable. I would rather buy an Audi or a Mercedes-Benz.

I had a Range Rover Sport 2015 Autobiography with the full works, I loved it but I knew if there was ever going to be an issue I would have to take out the warranty from Land Rover. I am glad I did because it spent most of its time in the garage and any issues I had they could not replicate. As soon as I left the showroom the issues came back and I had to re book it in. Honestly Lovely car but when you have a family and a busy life it just becomes the biggest hassle on the planet. I now lease a car for £300 a month and life is so much easier.

I'm looking at a 2015 V8. 2 owners, clean Carfax, great service history, 69000 miles on it for $22,000 USD. Service history shows spark plug replace at 60,000. I'm nervous to pull the trigger. I've had Infinits for 20 years without an issue. Edit: I also have contacted an Independent Land Rover Specialist to inspect the entire car before purchase and car dealer is ok with me taking it to have checked out. I've also contacted a 3rd party warranty company and for 130 a month it's fully coverer for any issues for 5 years or up to 153000 miles.

As somebody who works at JLR Solihull, the management and the track is a nightmare.. we have 90 seconds to finish our process (usually plenty of time, enough time to double check your work just in case)… top management try and add more to everybodies job and remove people from the track. They call it productivity, but this is when things are missed and jobs are done poorly….

They’re worth sub £20k because they just fall to bits. Best feeling I had in 12 years….ditching the Range Rover brand. Gone and not missed. I loved them, while they worked but it was in an out of the garage every few months; it never ends, There is always something that needs sorting. I poured thousands of money into ‘needed maintenance’ but also preventative maintenance and it still let me down numerous times. Lost count of the amount of times it got towed to a garage. Last L322 I he’d, 5 years. Spent £6000 a year just in repairs on average. But it isn’t just about the cost, it’s the mega inconvenience every time it went in. I ended up buying a second car. Utterly ridiculous. Never again. Once working, they won’t be beaten…. When working they are literally the perfect car. But they don’t work very often and that’s their biggest downfall.

The best advice that i learned from Manny Koshbin is don't buy a Super or luxury car until you have 10 times the price of it in your Bank account, when you purchase a Super car you add a car to your garage but u add also maintenance and unexpected damages that can happen in future

I understand Manny advice but that's overkill. If most people did that - they would never own one. The 10-15% rule is enough - especially if you make even more with multiple streams of income. My investment properties pay for my exotics cars. It's many different things you can do to afford easily and responsibly. You don't need a million cash to afford a cheap 100k car, My first exotic was 100k put down 20k- financed 80k. Then traded up to more expensive cars. Now I have an Aventador, so it's not hard at all, Especially if you are making 20-25k plus a month with little to no debt with multiple streams and assets that produce income.

The achilles heel is the 3.0TDv6, the Crankshaft bearings pick up & subsequently chew themselves to destruction, resulting in complete engine failure, there is no rhyme or reason for the bearing failure, they can fail @ 10k or 100k miles, bizarrely servicing is not a factor, I have known cars go in for a service & the engine seizes driving out of the service centre, that will land you with a £20k bill for a new engine, great review by the way, I'm now a subscriber 👍

I brought the 2014 SDV8 not less than a week ago, to early to comment on ownership. That being said I was going through the paperwork and the car has had outstanding routine maintenance since leaving the factory. The last owner paid 12k more than I did only two years ago, so serious depreciation in the last two years despite only covering 15k miles. You got to weigh up the risk. Yes there’s more warrantee claims, but there are also a lot more jaguar land rovers on the road than other brands, so I guess it’s commensurate. Look after your car, your car will look after you it’s simple. As for the value, buy them now….. once insurance stabilises, demand will drive prices back up.

I’m not sure whether you are Greg or Craig but I want to thank you so much for this video. That was some great info mate and just what I needed. I currently drive a late 2015 diesel BMW F31 in gun-metal grey, with charcoal and cream leather trim just over 60k miles on the clock and I love it. Fantastic car and everybody passes favourable comments about it - they all love it. I bought it with privacy glass and I have to say, it is a looker. I used to live in London and if I was still there, some bugger would’ve nicked it ages ago. But I’m back home in good auld Northern Ireland and have been for many years but I have always wanted a Range Rover Sport, especially the model you are driving here. Gorgeous cars. It’s very interesting when you point out the depreciation. That doesn’t put me off as I usually buy a car I really want, love to drive and I take care of it for many years. Now retired, I don’t do the mileage I used to when working, which was over 100 miles per day. A Range Rover is still an attractive proposition though, especially the 7-seater, with two young grandsons and their parents to fit in. You gave me every bit of info I needed. Thank you mate. That deserves and will get a 👍 as well as a subscription. Best regards from the Giant’s Causeway coast of Northern Ireland. 😄👍☘️

So running costs no more than any other luxury car Mpg not bad as they’re made of aluminium and you can average 35.2 mpg without trying Value never been a better time to buy as prices are going to recover and are going up What better car is there to tow with What gives more luxury I’m on my second Range Rover I had 4 discovery’s before it’s been a pleasure to drive what is one of the last British vehicles even if it’s owned by tata in India Good to have someone supporting a good brand and good model my advice is buy buy buy the time is perfect

A good and mainly fair assessment. When they hit 8 years of age brake pipes rust through around the back, upper and lower suspension arm bushes need replacing, as mentioned also brake discs and pads, all costing many hundreds of pounds. Also 3.0 v6 crankshafts prone to snapping and wrecking your engine, looking at £30,000 to replace. Maybe I've forgotten a few bits, message is; if you buy one keep £5000 in the bank for the first years running cost (just in case) and that doesn't include insurance and tax. Having said that they are the best car on the road. when all's well.

One set of people I ask about quality of JLR products are the designers and engineers on why there so much reliability problems. Going back to the mid 1990's early 2000's, there have articles about the enormous pressures on R&D engineering personnel's knock out projects very quickly without taking 6-8 years developing the upcoming model.

Test drove two of these during the last week, and I'm not as impressed with them as I thought I would be. Based on the reviews I've seen I was expecting a seriously refined machine, well its not. The good points are the ride quality, engine refinement, and space. The bad, are tyre noise on coarse texture surfaces, which is just about acceptable, but the worst is wind rush over the whole car at motorway speeds. It's considerably louder than my BMW 520d G30 which is to be expected, given the size difference. The doors sound very rattly as well when you close them. I really wanted to buy one but the refinement levels just were'nt up to expectations.

Most of us have been life long Land Rover owners and most of us, as much as we love the cars when they are running, have or will go elsewhere in the future! The cost of running them is now off the scale and the reliability is SO bad, we can’t justify it anymore!! JLR need to get a serious grip on these issues. 😳

I wish somebody did this in the US. I’m looking to purchase a Range Rover, I was thinking about going new or maybe certified preowned. But I have read so many forms and seen so many videos about how unreliable they are. And I do travel often out here in the US. I’m not sure what to do because I drive a Honda pilot now and it has never left me stranded.

New engine after 18k miles is the legendary Ford Lion V6. Great engine, loads of torque, but crankshafts are prone to snapping. It’s a flawed design. Some engines do 250k others do 18k. Also worth pointing out that LR products are loaded with tech. More tech = more things to go wrong. But if you want the tech, you need to accept that at some point it will fail.

The problem is on the manufacturing side. As an ex-employee, they were using more and more agency people on the tracks - some of whom were good, some were not! Personally, I’ve just sold my Discovery 4 for medical reasons…….i miss it SO much, and had no problems at all! Absolutely fantastic vehicle to drive, and people who have never owned one will not understand what a joy it is to drive! However, I agree with the comment about being regal - they are!

It's one of the original new shape RR Sports. It's got the oldest body shape, it's got the rubbish infotainment. You need to ask Ford about the engine, because it was built by them, not Land Rover. I've never had any significant problems with any of my Land Rovers or Range Rovers, but repairs for stuff like suspension arms and discs and pads can be expensive, though no more expensive than a similar level BMW, Audi or Mercedes. By the way, the fixed side steps look awful on that car.

Several years ago, 1 in 5 Range Rovers on the road in Malta (where they're right-hand-drive, like us) were stolen from the UK to order. Their government couldn't give a shit either, so it was easy to get them legitimately registered there.

I can not believe that Landrover or any manufacturer for that matter, can't make a theft-proof car. I refuse to believe that. A matter of an immobilizer with the sophistication of biometrics and one-time use of randomly generated codes. they need to get their act together or this will sink the brand.

Your premise is faulty. They are not a 50-60k car, they are an impractical and outdated design of a 25-30k car. That they now sell for less than 20k should ring alarm bells, not act as a lure to get one and the history of faults and awful after sales are just two big reasons.
