Hi Colin, Really impressive teaching style. Great knowledge of guitars. I’m sure you are learning Pedal Steel also. Would love to hear some Hawaiian. Only one point on presenting. For yourself, count the number of times that you say the word ‘so’ at the start of a new point. I bet you haven’t realised it. Looking forward to more tutorials, P🌴.

Thank you for the compliment Peter! I'd love to own a pedalsteel but i can't afford one. This was my first time making a lesson so it was difficult. I stutter a lot which means it took longer to make than it should have. It'll hopefully get better with time. I'm such they'll be some more hawaiian stuff in the future Colin

Why not raise the A a half step to Bb so you have a C7? Also since you were talking about playing the blues maybe you could play in 6/8 time to get the real feel. Years ago I had a 1957 Supro lap steel. It sounded terrible. It was so tinny. I should of changed the pickups. I had a great vintage collection of guitars. I relapsed after being clean off drugs for several years. Like a dumbass one day I took one hit of Crack. By the end of the week I had sold my vintage guitars and gone through about $3000. Yes, you can really screw up that bad that quickly. So guys please don't even try any drug not even once especially Crack and or heroin. Stay focused and disciplined on your instrument and your music. You'll be happy in the long run and you'll have other's respect and your own self esteem. Thanks for the lesson mate.

Yeah you could raise it. There's easy ways to get dominant chords with behind the bar bends which I'll do a lesson on at some point. Sometimes I tune the low C to C# which gives an A7 on the lower strings. Don't be to hard on yourself. Been able to stay of drugs for years is a testament to your will. Hopes things are better these days

Very cool video! My C6 tuning is different. It's GCEACE low to high. The reason I adapted to this tuning is because I play in open G tuning as well, which is tuned DGDGBD low to high. I use .60 .46 .36 .26w .17 .15. Custom gauge.

Great tutorial. Very thorough and well-explained. I've been thinking of trying lap steel. There's a used one for sale nearby. Might do it. I already play some slide, mostly in open E.

I am currently using Open-D. It was said that was a good key for blues. Since I played professionally for many years with an affection for blues, D seemed right. After a long hiatus, lap steel seemed a good return. Your information is well presented and I thank you.

Open D is great. There's so many great little variations you can make to that tuning which is fun. Lapsteel is a good way to get back into it because of how expressive you can be with it. Glad you found the video helpful

@@colinc_music thanks Colin for your quick reply. I have one more question. Thomann also have a cheaper Harley Benton Slider II Vintage Series for £79 is it worth buying to try it out before getting a proper one? Thanks again 🙏

@usedusermoser if you think you'll play it a lot and dedicate the time into it, I'd recommend my one. The pickups in the Harley benton sound a bit shit and thin sounding. Getting a nice warm tone from it would be hard.
