Thank you for this! I wanted to start working on a shadow aspect but hesitated to start because I was unsure about working with a “dark”deck. I thought about what you said and used a cute animal deck instead since was a sensitive topic. The guidance I got was profound, gentle, and empowering. It was exactly what I needed and now I feel like I can continue to do more work on it.

In my opinion the Thoth is AMAZING for shadow work! But maybe that’s because it is my number one deck anyway. Hahaha 😅 Recently I really like to work with Oracle d’Or and the Lonely Dreamer Tarot for shadow work. Odilon Redons art just feels so dreamy and that works really well for me.

Thank you so much for the reminder of Jung’s work on the shadow. The emphasis in social media is so much on what is dark that we forget that there are gifts in the shadow as well. My belief is that any deck can be used for shadow work. That being said I do prefer darker decks, my favorite being the Trionfi della Luna. I am interested now in trying a lighter deck and seeing how that goes. Thank you for your perspective on this!!!!

Love your decks choices! I think it’s totally legit to reach for darker decks especially if one realizes that doesn’t imply shadow is dark like you do.

I’ve found the Ceccoli Tarot to be a great shadow deck as well as the Symbolon Oracle. I like to use the Earthbound Oracle as a clarifier. Great video!

This is a great series! My best aha moments so far has been with the CBD Marseille. The things it shown me has been surprising, humbling and generally taken a lot of time to process, shadow work or not.

I totally agree. Overly confronting decks would be counterproductive to my shadow work process I think. I loved seeing some of the decks you recommend. It really got me thinking about my own collection and which are best suited for this kind of work. Slowly making my way through this process so I’m in no rush. 😂

My main shadow deck is Mary-El, but the shadow just comes up when I use it naturally, I have only done like 2 shadow work type readings with it ever. Tarot of the Holy Light was a little similar. I use both in positional spreads (e.g. Celtic Cross, mostly Tetractys) and I use reversals because the upright meanings are usually positive in the guidebooks. The more typical shadow decks like Murder of Crows and Deviant Moon, both very uncanny for me, I use in active imagination type readings where I pull three cards, lay them in a line and let the story play out. However, I do agree about typical dark decks not necessarily being the best. I don't think a generation that watched Twilight and Supernatural will see vampires and demons as a part of their shadow, unless they are ashamed of watching stuff like that nowadays. What the ego repressed can be very different for each of us. Sometimes I use the Fifth Spirit when I feel off about my body or my sexual orientation. It is a comforting deck, yes, but it also makes me confront any possible shame I may have. For integration, I use Golden Dawn decks for the inner side of integration and use Marseille decks for more practical steps.

Hello, dear author♥️! I am very interested in your videos and thank you for the interesting topics⭐️👍🏻! I have very dark decks (as it seems to me), not in the collection. But, there are shadow ones, if you can say so, "twilight ones". For me, this is a Bohemian Gothic Tarot from Babastudiya and DARK WOOD TAROT by Sasha Graham. Also, I'm on my way to buy Nicoletta Ceccoli. However, I think that we need to free up time for a deep study of this deck!

Diving in with the Circle of Doors. It seems to make me feel empowered enough to keep my eyes open. Waiting for the deck of Initiation by Melissa. I feel like the Guidebook is going to aid mixing these two decks as a working tool. What do you think? Have you used the two decks together? Thanks for all that you do it is greatly appreciated

I love the Deviant Moon tarot as it’s ruthlessly honest, but I get how it can be a bit unbalanced. Could we use 2 tarot decks for this work (one “dark” and one “light”)? Collage decks are one of my favorite art styles for tarot and oracle. So I find I reach for them when doing shadow work.The Soul Cards are decks I also reach for when I'm looking for what lays beneath the surface. I find the art relaxing in my mindscape-dreamlike. I resonated with your explanation of balanced decks being helpful with shadow.

I tried to work with Thoth a few years ago. It was too strong for me. It was like somebody stabbing me multiple times and twisting the knife. 😅 I occasionally pull it out though, when I’m in a stabler frame of mind and not emotional that day. The Bohemian Gothic just stabs me once and shows me how to fix myself 😂
