Like Lot, many of us love the world and the things of the world that are common in city living. This was the struggle of Israel that led them often into apostasy. Pitching his tent close to the city, just not in the city and then eventually moving into the city. We are not to tempt Satan to tempt us! Today, we don't have to physically live in the city to participate in corrupt city living. City corruption is available at home with the click of a remote control or mouse or from the pocket or hand bag. Gaming, pornography, news, sit coms, talk shows and late night shows, competitive sports, are all educators into city type living. Please Heavenly Father, deliver us from evil whether we live in the city or the country.

I love looking at the west Indies on Google maps at this time of the year just to make my toes feel a little warmer. I was looking at how close Grenada was to south America this week. One doesn't realise how spread out the islands are? Maybe one day I will get to go and visit the islands, but it will be so hard to choose just one, I always thought it would be Jamaica but now I'm not so sure. God be with you and yours my friend!! Lot, Noah and Dr. David Livingstone did evangelism in difficult places. It is amazing how God preserved them. Livingstone refused to return home and died in Africa while on his knees. Noah suffered from depression after being saved alone and family, all friends were dead, Lot was saved alone and daughters. Let us work towards bringing many to the Saviour otherwise we will cry, be depressed
@andromeda1903

there is no evidence in the bible that Noah was depressed. please read the scriptures thoroughly. besides, God never said that Noah was supposed to bring anyone but his family and the animals into the ark.

@@andromeda1903 why did Noah curse his grandson? Take a look at Moses and Abraham's prayer as they pleaded for others. They showed concern about others and asked the Lord not to kill people. That kind of boldness, God waits for us to develop, praying for enemies to know God not for their destruction. Jesus shows concern to all, He is a suffering God. We can choose to abide in Him and work with Him by going into the 'World' and preach/ lead others to Him/plead for others, repent and be reconciled to Him. He wants us to enter His joy. Jesus left His family and comforts to come and win us to Himself and His Kingdom is expanding with our help, sharing in His suffering

Hebrews 11vs24 to 27 powerful- Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. 11:27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

Lot and Abraham were freshmen on the journey of a new faith. 'Experience is the best teacher' Usually the elders (Abraham) can let young ones (Lot) take the best because they have enjoyed the best before them. Abraham knew his brother's character. His prayer for the righteous in Sodom was heard and the righteous were saved. Abraham in peacetalks with God. God materialized. God is amazing Genesis 18:25 Far be it from you to do such a thing-to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

Hi Pr Derek, a comment about Lot. The Bible actually calls Lot a righteous man (2 Peter 2:7,8). Saying that if Lot was a good man he wouldn't be in Sodom is an oversimplification. Yes he made bad choices in settling his family there, and the consequences on his family are written for our admonishment, but in the end the Bible values him righteous. There are many people living in large cities filled with wickedness today, are they all bad for choosing to live there rather than in the country side where we are counselled to go?

It depends on the kind of wife you have, he was not alone in his decision making. Look at Ananias and Sapphira. And many times God intervened in Abraham's decisions. Every family is unique and we are learning on job, they had no examples to look at or refer too. We should know better than them

@@lisanicholas2433 sometimes in prayer, I remember Nehemiah's prayer. He prayed for himself, relatives and fellow slaves/Israelites Nehemiah 1 prayer made by a cupbearer. He thought about others. 6 let your ear be attentive and your eyes open, to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for the people of Israel your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Even I and my father's house have sinned. 7 We have acted very corruptly against you and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, and the rules that you commanded your servant Moses. 8 Remember the word that you commanded your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the peoples, 9 but if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there I will gather them and bring them to the place that I have chosen, to make my name dwell there.’ 10 They are your servants and your people, whom you have redeemed by your great power and by your strong hand. 11 O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name, and give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” 'Abraham' need to read the Book of Law/ to remind 'Lot' so that we can help one another to reach the finish line. Among us are 'weak vessels' which need milk. After the rescue, Lot needed counselling. Sometimes the question comes to me: Where is your brother/wife/sister/mother/husband? I am learning from Moses, Abraham and Nehemiah to remember the runaway child and pray for his return. We all need the grace of God, our Father. He is grooming us not to be selfcentered, but work with Him for redemption of more souls

God disconnected Lot and Abraham from their pagan family to start them on a new journey of faith, trust and obedience. We make wrong choices, but it is important to remember to ask for forgiveness and ask to be guided and blessed. Lot did not have many options to marry the daughters. It is God who intervened and they never go married in Sodom. Abraham made an oath with Eliezer to get wife for Isaac from family because he had seen the wrath of God on Sodoma. Lot was a righteous man, and walking by faith. None of us knows the kind of wife he had, but the rescue plan tells something. Lot is another Noah who preached with his life but made no disciples even the boyfriends of the daughters did not take him seriously. God gave a second chance to Lot: putting him & family in terror so that they could hate Sodom and leave at once. The wicked men wanted to rape him too. God loved Lot and the angels grabbed them by force because the family had no idea about God's wrath. Our choices come with consequences. It is in old age when you start realizing the consequences of your choices. Sometimes the man may choose to follow Jesus but the wife is a stumbling block and vice versa. It was not easy for Lot and Job and Sapphira and Adam and Abigail. That is why God can cut the ties that can stop one from serving Him. Sodom was burnt, Lot's wife 'froze' and Lot and daughters could easily be identified in every place they were running to. They decided to stay alone in the mountains. Who of us has been in a Solitary place for years? Lot was a righteous man. He who was in him is greater than he who is in the world. Today, we are in Sodom but the Word of God preserves us, the Holy Spirit is with us to cheer and to guide. Whatever place you go to, go with Jesus. His eyes range through out the whole world to strengthen those who are fully committed to Him, and those who need to be rescued like Lot, He will do so. He would like us to be sober so that heavenly visitors find us fully awake and ready to run🏃

...and how you raise your children. God at one point told His people that when they go to Canaan/Egypt, they should not do as cananites do. Sometimes we find ourselves in 'slavery', do we stick to God's commands? God never kept the secret from Abraham (Gen. 18:17-19). Remember Abraham had just been 'ordained' by God, there is so much he did not know but the one who chose him chose to teach him what He wants. Since Lot was earlier part of Abraham's household, Abraham would have chosen to help Lot, by revealing to him what the Lord required of men (to train their household in ways of God) Abraham would have suggested to Lot to find suitable men for the girls from their family I think Lot was drinking to forget his problems: losing a wife, no future for the daughters, no heir and more problems arose! I think about Eli. He was not living in Sodom but Sodom was right in his place of service and his own children turning tables upside down. It is written in Genesis 18:17-19 Take charge of your household, teach your children God's ways....

Noah DID NOT take 120 years to build the ark. He started having children when he was 500 years old and when God tells him to build the ark his sons were already grown up and married. the flood came when NOah was 600 so CLEARLY that is less then 100 years. plese read the Bible thoroughly and stop saying false information. 120 years is the maximum life span of humans. as you can observe today.

There is point why Lot offered his doughters to the wicked and evil people. Among those people were men, who wanted to get married to Lot's daughetrs. Lot expected them to say No way. And probably that would have sobered the minds of at least some people and they would have realized what they ask for. But that not happened. p.s. Bible texts are difficult to read. Previous ones - black ones on the white background are much easier to read.
