Andras Schiff's Masterclass on Schubert with Bartlett is one of my favorite piano masters on YT. It's so nice to see Bartlett here, doing this class. There's growth both in character and skill and that's including all the amazing skill and character he already had during the masterclass. Plus Kinderszenen is one of my favorite collections of classical piano music ever done. Schumann is not flashy and dramatic like Beethoven or long and enduring like Bach. He expresses the captured essence of life, fleeting and beautiful.

Thank you so much for letting us know about that master class with Sir. Schaff. It was transcendental...

IgnotusPerIgnotium Yes! This boy's comprehension of music impresses me. I saw some months ago a masterclass of him with A. Schiff on Schubert's Impromptus no. 2 and 3 and it was spectacular. I recommend you to watch it if you have some time because it's definitely worth it. Cheers!

Wonderful pianist but, Schumann indeed left tempo markings. He was very specific.

Wonderful pianist and brilliant iterpretation. But the camera view is disturbing and i hear the cameraman’s breathing during Träumerei, it’s a pity.

While the lesson itself is wonderful, I found the constantly shaking and moving camera very disruptive.

I guess the cameraman wanted to give a cinematic feel to the video, which might have worked for a performance or a b-roll video but not for an entire video tutorial.

Well done! I teach this myself as a performance exercise, and have done a lecture demonstration on it but had not picked up the BACH embroidery. Love your playing and hope you do more of these! x

I hear that Zoltan Kodaly used to spell his name in music just like bach did.

Gorgeous fulgent varied tone esp. in no. 4 . Wow , the first thing he points out are the wonderful middle voices in no.1 .Catsaris is the most ravishing voicing and jewell tones in this .argerich's was the first I had ever heard but Horowitz , Arrau , Kempf , Cherkassky etc . Everyone plays these . Schumann sense for color , mood and most of all character one can always labor for clarity , directness
