Yeah. When I was 17 I did mushrooms and had a meditative and contemplative trip through my mind. And I realised loves strengths isn't in its target or source, it's in the person who holds it. You do need to find those individuals to love, but I'd you can't love without them, you are dependant and lost in a way that limits you. I feel most at peace when I can love for the sake of love

Thank you dear John!!! It is such a relief to hear that some of the painful aspects of earthly love is kind of similarly experienced by another human, and I'm not alone. 🌺

Speaking for myself, being a woman. I do want love, I do believe all women do, but I do not know how many of us actually realise what true love is. I think it has been confused with equated with gifts. Payments. My ex told taught me (he was a lot older than me and I was very young) that every relationship is an exchange, the woman gives the man what he wants usually sex and then the man gives the woman what she wants which is usually gifts/money/security. However, now being older and hopefully wiser, I have realised we need to first love ourselves. Be able to provide and be secure in ourselves without any other human being. Only then can real love be found and valued. Because you are not in the relationship for gifts/money/security once you are complete as a person. You can find another who is also complete and then what you exchange is simply companionship because you enjoy each others company. Neither of you need each other to complete the other, but you enjoy each other. I suppose its the same similar thing to what you have said. But if a woman is complete and enjoys your company gifting would not make a difference. I do enjoy your company John even if it is only through watching your videos. I am sure plenty of other woman do too. You are romantic, honest thoughtful thought provoking and kind. What more could any woman ask for.

I am reminded of this quotation by the painter Barnett Newman: "When you see a person, you have an immediate impact; you don't really have to start looking at details. Your first reaction when you meet a person for the first time is immediate and it's a total reaction in which the entire personality of a person and your own personality make contact, and to my mind that's almost a metaphysical event. If you have to start examining the eyelashes and all that sort of thing, it becomes a cosmetic situation in which, ahem, you remove yourself from the experience."

What is love? That is easy! God is love, but He is true love. There is no wrath in Him. The ego is the wrathful one😳 To put it simply, love in the physical sense is illusion. Love in the spiritual sense is realism. Why is love in the physical illusion? Because we tell each other, "I love you." But, we betray each other or fall out of love, don't we? That's not true love. Love In the Spirit is eternal and it never forsakes. That is true love. Frankly, the essence inside every life form is love and light. This is the truth of Self everything else is illusion. Look and see through physical eyes, we see illusion. Look and see through spiritual eyes, we behold what is truly meaningful. This is what Christ means when He tells us to look past flesh and bones.

@mell16852 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, everyone wants to be loved in one way or another. But people also don’t want to give out their love and then get hurt or abandoned. Sometimes giving something material shows that you’re invested and really do care enough to give them something thoughtful. However, I think if you truly find the right woman, there’s not really any need for gifts, because love will come first. - coming from someone who’s never went through this so take it with a grain of salt

Sorry, I thought John was all about the spirit... but then he says he believes that the reason he was so unsuccessful with women was because he never had enough money - is he seriously so proud that he thinks that the only reason a woman would ever turn him down was because he wasn't RICH enough, and that it couldn't possibly be anything to do with him as a person, or that simply love and affection is not something anyone OWES us. His lack of self-knowledge is astounding. Either that, or he's just a misogynist - which seems unlikely given that he genuinely seems like a fundamentally kind person... and maybe, at the end of the day, that's all that matters. Lecture over.
@danilodroghetti64272 жыл бұрын
I too felt a bit discomforted hearing that women want bathrooms and other material things. But I realised it was a problem of mine: John is not the spring of Truth, just as anyone else cannot be it. He spoke out of his experience and his opinions. Surely I do find more comfortable when he talks of spiritual things, but I 'love' him the same. Love is (also) compassion, not only longing (fulfilled or not).

@@lauriemoore7220 I see your point. Is there a person on youtube you wouldn't be able to level the same criticism at though? Is anyone perfect online or off? I don't see his lack of self-knowledge here, but we can agree to disagree. I've just noticed people tend to enjoy picking holes in John as if he presents himself as some untouchable authority on all things and asks to be put on a pedestal. Is his lack of self-knowledge really astounding? Compared to who? Have a good day, we needn't go back and forth and I'm not trying to argue for the sake of it. All the best!
@danilodroghetti64272 жыл бұрын
@@gratefulforeverybreath899, Mr Butler does not "present himself as some untouchable authority on all things". I ask myself if it was him that decided to open a KZbin channel. I don't think so, but here we are: there is a KZbin channel named "Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler" and not "Conversations with John Butler"; there is an old man who speaks of spiritual life, inner self, sins.. he do not tell us about his life (if not rarely and only as an example in order to explain his opinions about meditation and his spiritual way), his ideas about organic farming, his favourite sports... so, despite what is in the mind of Mr Butler (only God knows), the intention to present him as a "Maître à penser" (one of the many, on KZbin) is obvious. I don't know if Mr Butler has realised what that means - because we ever must think upon how the people perceive us, when we meddle with spiritual matters on a media such as KZbin. I'm certain, in my heart, that Mr Butler have no interest to be put on a pedestal, but if you read people's comments about his videos, you can see with your eyes that this is what happens, at least for the majority of them. So it's absolutely normal to pick Mr Butler holes. Not out of malevolence; simply because who is perceived as a spiritual mentor must tread carefully, not to contradict himself. If this is too much to ask to Mr Butler, I think it will be better to downsize the entire channel.
