I for one would love to see Nick’s make these and offer them in their catalog. I’d be a buyer for sure! Anyways awesome rebuild, would be cool to see the good year soles make a comeback!

Prediction, these will outsell the tankers if they ever go into production. I’d guess there be a pretty big bump in production costs due to added time/labor into sewing the two additional buckles. Time is money!

Great to see just how solid those boots are even after almost 80 years. I am sure in 80 years someone will be pulling apart a pair of modern Nicks and saying the same thing.

It's mind-blowing that they were able to mass produce such a high-quality boot for the military back then in such high numbers. The boots the military uses now are nowhere near the quality of these. 😊

Different times... These retailed for $7 dollars when they released, which would be equivalent to $100 today! You can't even find a decent boot for that price today...

Nowhere near the quality of men wearing the boots today either. I'm sure there are plenty of great men and women serving our country today ( such as my cousins) , but standards and requirements have gone way down in order to avoid upsetting offending or discriminating and our military branches are becoming a joke. My grandfather drove a tank across France through to Germany as a T/4 with the US ARMY 4th armored division, and the germans were scared of his division because they were told every man qualified for the 4thAD by having been born a bastard and killing his own mother. Today they'd probably tell the enemy forces that you qualified for one of our armored divisions by calling somebody fat.

@@TylerSnyder305A different time and different men. My father was a teenager when he was fighting the Japanese Imperial Army in India/Burma (as it was then). I don't need to tell you how tough that was.

It wasn't high quality, it was military spec. I've been retired from the army about a dozen years. My first pair of issue boots in 1987 were all leather composite sole 'Jeep' boots, followed by a pair of the updated 'Speed lace' boots a couple of years later, and then I'd had enough and bought the most comfortable pair of boots at that point, panama soled Jungle boots. Current military boot design is excellent. It offers durability, weather and water resistance, and arch support. While it's neat to look at the old style boots, not even Nick's makes boots that bare boned. And if you had to choose between that M43 boot and a modern production combat boot from Belleville, Bates, or Altama for duty and field use, you'd pick modern production boot every time.

That was a great video. The most valuable investment a military force needs to consider is the quantity of the footwear on its fighting force. An army hobbled by the inability to MOVE FORWARD because of bad boots, has already ten steps behind.

Beebe Brothers Rubber Company founded in 1942 and continued until 1967 where they changed the name to Beebe Rubber Company. In December 1968, Mohawk Rubber Company purchased Beebe as a subsidiary. In 1986, Mohawk sold Beebe to Chardon Rubber Company and the Beebe name was removed. Chardon Rubber went bankrupt in 2009 and a year later was purchased by a group that now formed Chardon Custom Polymers which is open to this day. You’re welcome.

I have a much later pair of the Marbot, French Ranger boots, essentially a copy, but with better quality leather. Mine have Vibram type commando soles (not branded, but similar) unfortunately, and here's the rub (literally) Brand new, unworn, the last issue before they changed pattern... They are notorious to break in... Supremely comfortable, once they've acquired some milage... But a real pain LOL 😂

I'm laughing that you used "Blood on the Risers" and restored a pair of Leg boots. Paratroopers didn't use the M43 boot, and a lot of the ground troops used the Service Shoe with leggings because of the shortages of the M43 boots.
