I love the vintage sewing machine. Super cute! "Less is more" is my motto. My first thought was exactly what you did. And it does look like a dial. Perfect! Thank you for sharing your tutorial.

Like your thinking process, love that idea of using Pinterest to find sewing machine, and one flower on machine. You scared me when you were laying out so many flowers

I have a huge amount of selvages. This is a great way to use some. Might do a few of these for Christmas gifts for my quilting friends.

So stinking cute! Sometimes you just need to do something different. Yesterday I made about 30 flags from scraps. Red pattern backgrounds and a blue pattern for the field of stars. They are all on bbq skewers for sticking in plants and such. Guess everyone is getting flags for flag day on the 14th.

You have such cute ideas! Your machine is adorable and i love its shape! I threw a big tote away last yr. when i minimized things in my house. I had always kept them incase I needed to match fabrics… never with any project in mind. I’ll definitely keep them for a while as id love to mimic a singer…its probably the only one ill have. I have a “she believed she so she did” by Lori.. hanging on my wall, but lol you can never have too many machines. I only have three in my space but thats all i need for the things i do. I like your ideas Sheri..im not very creative but like tweaking others ideas. Love your videos!

Selvages these days have so much character to them. Some even have sayings. I just can’t bear to throw them away 🤣 oh! I have that hanging on my wall too. It’s by J. Wrecker Frisch 😉

Great design! I don’t save salvages , so therefore i don’t have any to make the background. I think using strips of fabric might work the same as a substitute. I will try it! 😊 Thanks for great tutorial!

I usually trace the pattern onto my heat and bond instead of on the fabric. That way I do t have to worry about any pencil showing on the edges. You do have to be mindful of direction because the final image will be reversed since you are putting the tracing on the back of the fabric.

Oh, believe me, I have made that mistake more than once 🤦🏼‍♀️ I didn’t know you could see good enough to trace through the heat n bond. I’ll try it 👍🏻

Cute idea have a question 🙋‍♀️ isn’t the salvage (that we cut off due to quilt police) harder to sew through? And long armers don’t want it in quilts? How does one quilt through it? Bigger needle?
@lessonslearnt5966
@lessonslearnt5966 4 ай бұрын
Occasionally you run into one that’s really thick, like from decorators fabric or outdoor fabric, but the quilting cotton ones don’t give me trouble. I would still use a 14 needle. For garment sewing, definitely not, but there’s usually not an occasion that calls for that, unless using to embellish a jacket, in which case a bigger needle would need to be used.

Ty for sharing. Years ago I purchased couple yards of the fake selvages. This is a great way to use it up. Plus I save my selvages too. What we do to save fabrics! 🪡🧵✂️
