Derek playing that last section got to me. It reminded me so much of Duane's playing, I lost it. I am trying to see what I have typed through tears of joy and sadness. I've always said that The Allman Bros. Band regained their spirit and sense of musical direction when Derek and Warren joined the band and it was with pure joy that I listened to them in their last few years. Now all but Ja Moe are gone, end of an era, can see my own end coming. I've done enough damage to God's creation. A word of wisdom from someone who seemed to ignore all of it that ever came my way, seek peace. With yourself first then others, cause if you take care of the first you will be better equipped to accomplish the other.

Dickey is still very much alive. If it hadn't been for him the band wouldn't have lasted past Duane and Berry's death.

Well said. Like a true fan of the band and of the beauty of life in general.

Within this beautiful thing called the evolotion of music that we are experiencing comes interpretations of creative thoughts. This interpretation was very "teaching" and entertaining at the same time. Trucks is like "this is how this song can sound" while beautifully promoting and highlighting the raw emotion. Outstanding work. I feel very grateful for coming across this. Anyone else?
@jaikumarvenkatchari38383 жыл бұрын
I feel this is an interpretation that's on a level that would appeal to professional musicians . The technical nuances, creativity, Susan's voice, Kofi's solo are all there but for me personally I need to listen to it a few more times to try and grasp the magic.

Wow if that don't bring tears to your eyes nothing will. Great, brings back the Allman bros as only Tedeschi Trucks Band can.

I agree with all who have said that Derek is the second coming of Duanne. BUT, I believe Susan has been the best thing that could have happened to Derek. Her soul and powerful voice are fantastic !!

Yeah I am a fan of that. So what. I was a fan of The Allman Brothers. Derek Trucks impresses the hell out of me when he goes off on that SG. He and Susan have an incredible band.

Yeah, brother, I am a fan of that, too! I have seen Gregg, with and without the BAND, maybe 23 times, and I hate he is gone, but ya know what? The SOUND lives on, and I love Tedeschi Trucks Band. All the crap on the radio,.....Nobody cares about the music they produce anymore, and it all sounds terrible, with no soul, or message,......Damn I am glad they are still out there, keeping the flame burning!

This is a remarkable piece because it is written in 11/4 time 123 123 123 12 . That is why the bass and drummers are working so hard because it is incredible hard to do. I love the face she pulls at him when he sets out on the final solo, "OK Honey what you got for us?"

Derek does what the Allmans would do best.... improvise on a theme or song and make it his own (version) like with eg Mountain Jam/ When Susan Tedeschi starts singing ...spine chilling stuff ....

Oklahoma Hank - Agreed re: the bass. That’s Tim Lefebvre and he’s terrific. He also played on David Bowie’s last album. Very noticeable that he’s putting a lot into that performance.

john kearns no and there is a comment somewhere in here about how they got two drummers to play simultaneously.
@marcusteblano63766 жыл бұрын
In the same ball park with the original Allmans version, but Derek ain't Duane. There will never be another Duane. I like him better than Dickie, tho. They make good use of those drummers. What happened to the first part of the song?
@guruoy47916 жыл бұрын
Marcus Teblano The Tedeschi Trucks Band Usually doesn't play the full song, they feed off of another into the second solo and tail end of the song.
@garylaubscher99146 жыл бұрын
Marcus Teblano , I grew up with the Allmans when they lived in Daytona Bch Fla. Duane was my absolute favorite and still has a place in my music , but right now Derek is probably one of the best guitarists living . Hate to say I think he is better than Duane, live long & rock on....
@marcusteblano63766 жыл бұрын
I agree, technically Derek is among the best of the best, but I haven't heard him make it sing like Duane could.

Gary L,,.Not a chance in hell . Derek never tries to be anyone but himself & the most important thing to remember here is Duane has been gone for more years than Derek has been alive & had he survived that terrible day as good as he was then what the hell do you think he would be like now.There can be no comparison.

Half of Derek Truck's is solo noise. He is brilliant but the noise destroys the brilliance.

One of my favorite songs of all time! And TTB brings me back to my teens, instantly! But... 10 minutes of guitar solo? No bridges, crescendos, and 1 vocal phrase? Keyboards are non existent (Where's Gregg when you need him?) and my biggest complaint - the guitar should never overpower her vocals Turn Susan up for god sakes. Where did they get their producer/sound man?
