The cynical take on Josephus would be that when he was in that cave of defeated hardliners that he was being a real keen math wiz and a pragmatic survivor among fanatics resolved to die. The Sicarii and the Zealots are DEFINITELY a cautionary tale, I agree. Rabbi Brous seems to have the same beautiful empathy and self-accountability as Senator Bernie Sanders, both with shining souls whom I would follow if they led the way. I'm disgusted with the naysayers in the comment section who rebuff what Rabbi Brous is preaching (right-wingers like Bibi & Trump are why we can't have good things). This one sermon has made a subscriber out of me: Bravo, Rabbi !

You seem like a 'nice' person but you lack wisdom. An uninformed American who just wants the kids to get along and things to get back to good for Jews here in the good ol' USA. An American who for decades supported a two state solution with people who yell in your face (louder today than ever) that they want one state from the river to the sea. Decades upon Decades of compromises that resulted in Oct. 7 Rabbi....'river to sea' is not a call of coexistence, not a call of compassion or reason. The poor innocents who have been holding hostages in their homes for 8 months are not looking for a compromise or an end to the war. Today, we must decide that we are not in Israel and should not tell the Israelis what to do to defend their right to exist. Today, we must decide that we no longer listen to people like you who insist that we need to compromise one more time. That this time things will be different.
