Even though he smokes he is ALWAYS busy. He barely takes a break for anything,

and his newest film "Jay and Silent Bobs Super Groovy Cartoon Movie" Based on a comic book he wrote YEARS before he smoked pot has been selling out in theaters around the country. He has a whole new philosophy on life. He hasn't actually written a movie high yet. Clerks 3 will be the first one. Red State was written before Zack and Miri. and Cop Out wasnt even his script. i know several people who function perfectly well and hold good jobs who smoke pot.

I have no doubt he is successful and rich; he deserves to be. I'm just saying, the guy has never been good about meeting deadlines, and it seems to have only gotten worse. Some of us bought "Batman: The Widening Gyre" issue-by-issue because we couldn't wait, and then we bought the TPB so it would all be in one place (without the ads). Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee did a MUCH more complex storyline, with high-detail art, called "Hush", and all 12 parts came out on time, one per month.

Jason Mewes looks like a whole other person now that he's been off the smack for a good long time. He seems more vital, stronger, more of a sexual person than a stoner. Back when "Dogma" was current, if you had told me "Girls think he's sexy", I'd have laughed in your face and taken your lunch money. But now he's healthy and in shape, and even as a str8 guy (and former addict) I can appreciate the difference. I'm not thrilled that Kevin has decided weed is HIS muse now. How stupid is that.

Not entirely true. Kevin Smith is also a comic-book writer, and he has kept readers waiting for the second half of his Batman story "The Widening Gyre", MUCH longer than promised. The first half (6 issues) FREQUENTLY missed deadlines. And the first half ends on one HELL of a cliffhanger. I know from experience: What you write while stoned SEEMS to be genius ... WHEN YOU'RE STONED.

@BenCulture11 жыл бұрын
No, you're right, I don't regularly listen to the "Smodcast". I bought the DVD in which they animated the podcast, and it just seemed to be a lot of inside jokes and, frankly, stoned giggling. I don't understand: Are you saying Smith and Mewes go around talking about the evils of drug addiction, while Smith still smokes pot? Or did he give up the pot, too? What you can't do is convince me to truly approve of pot. I have seen it ruin too many beautiful people and relationships.
@BenCulture11 жыл бұрын
No, I didn't notice much anger ... But anger is healthy. It is as much a part of "really being alive" as falling in love, only much more common. I think a lot of pot smokers fear their own anger, and keep it bottled up by staying stoned. His anger should be released onto the pages of his scripts, not smoked away. As for sucking cock for money, stealing, etc. ... Those are things you're NOT SUPPOSED TO DO, period! It's nothing to be PROUD of!

He "does" it very well you clearly dont listen to any of his podcasts. He has helped his best friend jason mewes kick his heroine habit. He started back on drugs during Zack and Miri and in 2010 Smith created an intervention podcast where he and Mewes would go around touring talking about his addictions and how dark his past got. They add some humor and its good. He also has like 5 other ones he does nearly weekly that are all funny. He created a hilarious AMC show that many people love.
@nowknowthis11 жыл бұрын
he would yell at Jason all the timeand would throw fits if something went wrong,and had a very monotone aire about him.Weed brought the best out of him.now he is inspiring,read his book "Tough Shit"it made me want to go out and make amovie. He is a philosophical genius, and i'm sory if one smalllife choice made you disrespect him for some reason. I'm sure if you never found out he was smoking weed you wouldnt have noticed anything. he is evolving as an artist,not being just the guywhomadeclerks.

>he would yell at Jason all the timeand would throw fits if something went wrong,and had a very monotone aire about him.Weed brought the best out of him. - Huh?!? Sounds like you're saying weed brought out the WORST in him. But the behavior you describe is consistent with what I've observed about daily, life-style pot-smokers. As for books . . . I've read two of them already ("Silent Bob Speaks!" and "My Boring-Ass Life") You SURE this "Tough Shit" is much better? And I AM still a FAN of Kevin!
@BenCulture11 жыл бұрын
Look, first of all, you don't have to convince me Kevin Smith is good. I've been a fan of his since 1998 when I first saw Dogma, which I rapidly decided was my favorite film. I may not buy everything he puts out, but I dig the guy immensely. Period. - >i know several people who function perfectly well and hold good jobs who smoke pot. - As do I. But what happens on those rare occasions when the whole town has run dry, and they can't get any weed for days at a time? Not too pretty, is it?

I love how the story has become "Kevin Smith HELPED Jason Mewes quit heroin". Kevin was a good friend to Jason, and that's invaluable, but the "help" he offered is beyond the reach of most addicts. KS put JM up in his HUGE house, where JM paid no rent, and ate whatever he wanted, because the Smiths have plenty of money. He was part of the family. Then KS started putting JM in movies again. If we all had friends like Kevin Smith, NONE of us would suffer to kick heroin the old-fashioned way.

I'm glad you recognize that I *wasn't* hating on Kevin Smith. A lot of people on YT are so friggin' hypersensitive. I love Kevin Smith as a filmmaker and all-around entertainer. You could do a lot worse than to be inspired by him and Tarantino. They're both excellent, and I am sure you're not the only up-and-comer who counts them among your biggest influences. I consider Dogma my favorite movie, y'know, if I have to pick a #1, I'll pick that.
