Lesvos: fall in LOVE Documentary YT version

A group of friends take a road trip across the spectacular island of Lesvos, giving you a glimpse of local culture, island life, how the island managed the refugee crisis and what it means to live in paradise.
The film has won two awards in 2017 including top placing at Planet Barcelona, played to a prime time national audience on Foxtel and became the first documentary to sell out simultaneous cinema sessions in Sydney. Basil Genimahaliotis is an acclaimed video and filmmaker based in London. Billy Cotsis is an author, short film director and TV presenter on MerakiTV, Australia.
This film was made possible with the support of the Mytilenean Brotherhood of Sydney and NSW and all the wonderful people we met on our journey through the island.

My husband is from Petra,Lesvos and we spend at least one month there every summer visiting not only Petra, but also other beautiful villages on island. Unfortunately, it seems that we gonna miss it this summer and that makes us very sad. But I found your video this morning and I must say that this is the best one I've seen so far. We all enjoyed it so much and would like to thank you for making it and thank you for bringing a small piece of Lesvos in our UK home. Thank you for your kind comments, you have given us a huge ego! Your husband sounds like a great guy, because Petra only produces the finest people. It is such a beautiful village, picturesque, easy to get around. They produce good ouzo, they fish, good night life, it has a port, the church is breathtaking, what a place. It's likely we have bumped into each other. Will be really nice to see you both there next year, ouzo is on me. I too am there annually. My mum is from Skoutaros and my dad filia. I am proud of our island but amazed at how lucky we are to have Petra. I lived in Crystal Palace for many years. Hope all is well in the UK. My great grandfather was from Petra, emigrated to Romania long time ago. This year I will travel to Lesvos in order to reconnect to my lost roots. I am currently looking into my genealogy and see if I can find any relatives still living there, that would be wonderful. I have started to learn Greek in order to get by anytime I visit. It's like a soul journey for me, my grandfather was like a father to me, very creative and hardworking person. We used to do handcrafted things together. Now all I have is the memories. I'm sure wherever he is he would be happy for me to start this journey. Lots of love from Bucharest, Romania!

Thanks for the documentary! My husband’s parents are from Skoutaros and we try to go to lesvos every summer for the kids to know their roots on that side. There’s still a lot for us to see snd explore on this huge island.

That Turkish woman is deluded, "ridiculous that they are not one country". What a way to say that it should be Turkish.. always the same narrative with them. Turks and Greeks aren't the same, the Greeks fought hard to get their independence from barbaric Ottomans.

historically thats true. I dont think she was denying that. Rather, I think she might have used a slightly exaggerated word (rediculous) for saying that it is fascinating how close lesvos and the turkish mainland are, its as close as when looking over to the bosborus in istanbul. The climate, the countryside, the food are so similar. its cool to see those similarities. hence, its crazy that they are actually two different countries.

Yes that's correct. Cyprus is mixture of Greeks and Turks living there. A Cypriot would say " I am from Cyprus or I am a Cypriot. They never say I am Greek or I am from Greece. Nice video

@@androfighter Yes you are correct about Lesvos being the 3rd largest island. I am from Lesvos as well (Agiasos) but I now live in Australia. The last time I was in Lesvos was 1976 and I am making plans to return for holiday next summer. (Can't wait)

Cyprus is a separate country more for historical reasons that anything else. Cyprus is Greek of culture so one could definitely can say that Cyprus is the biggest Greek island. Just not by political state
