Seriously downplaying the Kemal factor. Tell that to the millions who died or were displaced?? We are lucky that I’m diplomatic. U have no idea what it’s like to be killed, raped, beaten or displaced because you are are a minority. Kemal was great for Turkey but the loss of lives for Greeks, Armenians, Assyrians, Levantine, Jews was shocking. It’s called genocide and for my people it was a tragedy. I get it, a larger than life figure but to the descendants, a tragedy. Put yourself in the shoes of the people slaughtered or those hungry in the docks for two weeks! We are not grateful to Kemal Or the nationalists for the genocide!

@@billywood8870The enmity that existed between the peoples historically and hostilities it gave rise to in wartime were deplorable and inevitable sadly. But it's also unjustifiable to call a man what he is not for what he has done for the best interest of his own people and country when the sides were fighting each other to death literally to the extinction of each other, it's undeniable both sides wished to accomplish ''that'' during the war. I specifically made reference to the statesmanship of the man after the war to raise acknowledgement to his works as a peacemaker to build bridges and bring about a reconciliation between the two sides.

The greyish area at the base is part of a river which is dried these days but used to flow for years, connecting the Greko. I think most winters it has water from the rain
