In 2012, my wife and I, who were staying at a hotel in Kos, hired a bicycle for each of us, and we rode to the Thermals, a hot spring issuing from the base of a cliff and partially enclosed as a hot pool before flowing out to the sea. The spa is open-air, and we sunbathed on the surrounding beach between dips and swimming in the ocean next to the pool. An unforgettable experience. PS. In 2012, there were no changing facilities. We arrived already in our swim gear and were allowed to dry out before returning to our hotel. The facility was free.

There is a new road from Kalloni to Petrified Forest and Sigri that opened to traffic this summer. It is easier and quicker than the old road, which most guides still include, but it avoids the villages in the way. Sigri has a museum about paleontology of Lesvos. There are also organized hot springs, Eftalou is free access as you just saw, try Therma baths at the small bay of Gera (not to be confused with Thermi) and they say Polichnitos hot springs are open again. The island contains a lot of hot springs locations.

Hi Gabriel, it's a beautiful relaxing day, the weather is still warm for a nice swim. Being that this is Europe, you would see more nude people in those springs. There are so many restaurants on the island that are noticeably quiet, and not very commercialized, June and July must be different. A Petrified Forest is part of UNESCO located in the seaside village of Sigri.

As always, great stuff. I wonder if that building at 13:20 was a Jewish synagogue. From what I remember from living in Greece, the Greek letter beta is pronounced like a "v"; I think spellings change sometimes to match the pronunciation for people using a different alphabet, if that makes sense. We lived in Voula in the Athens metro, and the Greek spelling is with a beta but it was always Voula in our alphabet. In any event, this looks like an island to add to the list to see, thanks!

So many nice Greek islands. Don’t know why everyone always goes to Santorini, even though it’s amazing. Greece has tons to offer. Also, ouzo is really good. If you get a chance to go to Chios, I would definitely recommend the Mastica spirit made from the mastic trees that only thrive on that one little island in the world. It’s mind boggling because they have tried growing those trees on many places, but they only ‘cry’ in Chios.

Here's some interesting stuff about Turkish visitors btw: "The influx of Turkish tourists to the Greek Islands this summer has reached a remarkable 182,000, marking a significant boost for the local economies. Expressing their satisfaction, Greek locals and businesses have noted the positive impact. “Thanks to them, there is no lobster left in Lesbos this year. Turkish tourists do not fill their bellies with a salad like Northern Europeans. Turkish tourists saved the island’s economy this summer,” a Greek tourist operator commented. “However, if we try to overcharge them, they will not come back again.”

This video of Lesbos is interesting with beautiful views of the peach colored roofs. I am glad you spoke about the poet Sappho and the origin of the name LESBOS. People are so malicious as seen by the person who used White Out/Paint to erase the ' DO NOT' and the S and R from SHORT. The sign should have read 'DO NOT ENTER WEARING SHORTS and in a SHORT DRESSED MANNER' ( Don't wear short dresses). Human Beings love to disobey rules.

In case you are curious. Fresh grape rakı is like ouzo but has a higher alcohol content. Suma rakı, i.e. distilled rakı prior to the addition of aniseed, is generally produced from raisins but raki factories around established wine-producing areas like Tekirdağ, Nevşehir, and İzmir may also use fresh grapes for higher quality.

I moved to the quite lush and green island of Lesbos from nothern Europe for 25 years ago. I have not worked in the tourist industry, which luckily does not dominate the life on this big island, with a quite large population. Because of that, life here is mostly the same all year around. So is the transport by sea and air. It takes a certain population to create a basis for an acceptable service and the presence of many institutions, like health care, public service, commerce and so on. Life on one of the in the summer romantic looking, very crowded small touristy islands would have been impossible for me and not desireable, either. Out of season nothing is going on, and in the summer most businesses on these islands are run by main-land based companies and staff.

Do you use two cameras, Gabe? One is juddering (the underwater one) , the other (main selfie) is smooth as published @50 FPS. Perhaps you need to match the frame rates on both cameras. Must admit Greek urban planning is a bit like a moussaka 😊
@GabrielTravelerVideos2 ай бұрын
Yes, I switched to my Gopro for the underwater shot at 25:30. The Gopro doesn't have the option to film at 50fps, so I leave it at 60fps. The rest of the video was filmed with my DJI Osmo Action, which I switch to 50fps in Europe because the lights flash at 50fps, so it looks better if I'm filming at the same frequency. But I checked the part filmed with the Gopro and didn't notice anything wrong with the footage. Maybe the internal stabilization on the Gopro isn't as good as the DJI.
@maricallo61432 ай бұрын
@@GabrielTravelerVideos There is some obvious stutter during paning shots, 60 doesn't go well into 50, some motion interpolation may help. But good choice to publish at the framerate of the main camera.
@GabrielTravelerVideos2 ай бұрын
@@maricallo6143 I see, yes given the choice it's probably best to process at 50fps since most of the footage is filmed at that rate.
