As always, a fascinating dissection of your rides and why you're doing what you're doing. Invaluable for us house-bound riders! Elisa, on bridges and fear. Years ago, on tour with my husband on the East coast (we're musicians), we had to take this insane, old bridge. It was a 55 mph area and I think only two lanes, the bridge went up and up and up, and THEN IT CURVED so you couldn't see ahead. My anxiety started to spike at the sight of this horrid thing and it only got worse as we went. I was driving so I couldn't close my eyes or hyperventilate or do anything but drive as calmly and carefully as possible. When we got to the other side I pulled over as soon as I could and just sat there shaking. My poor husband was surprised at my reaction as I have had absolutely no problems with bridges at all in thousands of miles of touring in multiple countries, not even in Portland, OR, where the freeway through that city is nothing but a maze of bridges, overpasses and underpasses. Anyway. I recovered and we went on to our performance. I had a few minutes of quiet where I could think about what happened so I pulled out my very favorite tool for emotional disturbances, which is Emotional Freeing Technique. It's also known as tapping. In any case, I focused on the feelings that that awful bridge had created in me and just tapped for about fifteen minutes or so. Then we did our concert, which went just fine, and we went home with a friend who was putting us up for the night. On the way there we had to cross a tiny, eensy, short little bridglet- and my anxiety just about strangled me. It took three days of concerted tapping and I defused most of the issue. I probably will do my best to avoid that awful originator of my sudden phobia, but otherwise I'm now fine with bridges. Tapping could certainly make crossing these admittedly anxiety provoking bridges you have to do (and I would sure not like them, either!!!) a lot easier and less stressful. One can learn EFT for free off the net (I have good links if anyone is interested) but if one has the money going to an experienced practitioner/therapist is the best option so as to avoid any further issues both with a specific phobia or other problem, or problems that become revealed when a specific issue is tackled.

Ah yes... planning things to get my qualifications without too many runs to do a 3*L has been surprisingly difficult. Don’t want to run too much as my horse is older and don’t want to run at events where the footing isn’t good, etc.
