I had an Uber driver from the country of Georgia once. He started telling me about how if anyone introduced his daughter to drugs, he would “make them disappear.” He said “in my country, we know the ways. I would not get caught and they would never find him.” He also went on about how nobody in Georgia has a drinking problem, they drink for days at a time at their 3-day weddings and then get up and go to work on Monday. “Plenty of drinking, but no problem.” Uber drivers who say weird stuff to you are my favorite type of person. The bit that made me laugh the most was when the woman was identifying her husband. The receptionist woman said "I'm sorry for your loss" way too soon, timing was really bad, just bad acting. In reality you would hesitate slightly as you tried to think of something to say, and felt empathy for the person who's crying over the horribly frozen body of their dead loved one. Not just immediately say "I'm sorry for your loss", like a robot.

I think it would have been a more compelling story if it had been set in a remote american ski town, where the couple is from the Republic of Georgia. I think the american-goes-to-foreign-country-does-bad-thing-suffers-consequence is really tired. A foreign couple coming to america to go on a ski trip, in a very rural area, with a relatively recent trauma would be compelling. Especially since rural America tends to be hella conservative (read: racist) and superstitious. That way, the locals have a reason to not trust this foreign couple and the stakes are higher when they go out skiing. IDK if that makes any sense, but I thought it would be a cool idea. Also I'm glad this video is back up!

Okay, no hate, BUT tourists not listening to VALID and GOOD reasons not to do the ski thing that they had planned to do according to their schecule in a place they have never been to is not farfetch idea. Be it Summer or Winter, the amount of tourists my county has to rescue, search after by going manngard, send up rescue helicopters, etc for people not understanding that nature does its own thing and it does not abide your vacation idea is a thing. the explanation of: OH please, let us do this thing you advice us not to do, we came all the way from X- country. I have heard SO many times also xD Urban legend, so at the ski slope our school used to go to one man had died by a heart attack a couple of years ago, it was in the news. All of it very not mystical, but SOMEHOW we kids made it into the idea that it wasnt a normal death at all. instead we told and belived that someone had just been bored and put up a wire on the perfect height for someones neck and then they had been decapitated on the way down. yes very unlikely and dramatic.

So I'm only about halfway though this video but I'm convinced that the bad guys are the little girl's parents. And all I have to say at that theory is that who lets their young daughter go up on a mountain alone to free ride down in shit poor weather. So in a way it's their fault that she died for being incredibly negligent.

Ok so weirdly I'm a translator working on a book of Georgian short stories which are mostly set in the mountains and it's true that blood feuds are a part of Georgian tradition, although it doesn't make any sense here. Also, fun fact, traditionally people carried out blood feuds by cutting off the right hands of their enemies, which I feel like would have actually been cool if they'd included it in the movie.

When you mentioned if there was a start of something interesting in the writing, I thought that the roses in the snow would lead up to Max holding the engagement ring and she feels all touched thinking he was proposing to her. After she reaches him though, she finds him frozen dead and then starts panicking and trying to get off the mountain.
