I think it would have been a more compelling story if it had been set in a remote american ski town, where the couple is from the Republic of Georgia. I think the american-goes-to-foreign-country-does-bad-thing-suffers-consequence is really tired. A foreign couple coming to america to go on a ski trip, in a very rural area, with a relatively recent trauma would be compelling. Especially since rural America tends to be hella conservative (read: racist) and superstitious. That way, the locals have a reason to not trust this foreign couple and the stakes are higher when they go out skiing. IDK if that makes any sense, but I thought it would be a cool idea. Be it Summer or Winter, the amount of tourists my county has to rescue, search after by going manngard, send up rescue helicopters, etc for people not understanding that nature does its own thing and it does not abide your vacation idea is a thing. the explanation of: OH please, let us do this thing you advice us not to do, we came all the way from X- country. I have heard SO many times also xD Urban legend, so at the ski slope our school used to go to one man had died by a heart attack a couple of years ago, it was in the news. All of it very not mystical, but SOMEHOW we kids made it into the idea that it wasnt a normal death at all. instead we told and belived that someone had just been bored and put up a wire on the perfect height for someones neck and then they had been decapitated on the way down. yes very unlikely and dramatic.

Ok so weirdly I'm a translator working on a book of Georgian short stories which are mostly set in the mountains and it's true that blood feuds are a part of Georgian tradition, although it doesn't make any sense here. Also, fun fact, traditionally people carried out blood feuds by cutting off the right hands of their enemies, which I feel like would have actually been cool if they'd included it in the movie.

Is that why there's a shot with just a random hand in the snow
@quinceyclouds32083 жыл бұрын
I went “yes!!!” At the shot of the guy holding the roses and then just being tugged away by the snow mobile. If this whole movie was THAT vibe I would’ve been excited

When you mentioned if there was a start of something interesting in the writing, I thought that the roses in the snow would lead up to Max holding the engagement ring and she feels all touched thinking he was proposing to her. After she reaches him though, she finds him frozen dead and then starts panicking and trying to get off the mountain.

Ugh I hate these types of movies where the villain just takes out their pain/trauma on anyone who passes them. Like, these people had nothing to do with your daughter’s death, go see a therapist and stop it, Helga.

Was just about to go to bed, but looks like I'm gonna have to hang in there for a little bit longer, and watch this.... again. They keep taking your videos down, you fight to get them back, re-upload, and I watch 'em every time you do. No questions asked. I'm pretty sure that's the contract we've all now entered into as Nickie D fans, and I for one, couldn't be happier. Wishing everyone a Happy, and Healthy 2021!!🎉🎉
