I started my period once in a class right after lunch in middle school. Thankfully I was wearing a hoodie jacket, so I was able to sneakily put it around my waist to cover up what was happening until I was able to go the bathroom and figure something out. But boy, was it horrifying. Mostly, because I'm pretty sure I most likely left a spot on the chair I was sitting in. I mean, they were those ceramic-like chairs so if someone found it, they'd be able to clean it, but still. I felt so bad because I didn't say anything and just went about my business. I probably would have at least told the teacher, who was a female, now as an adult, but middle school me was mortified. Anyways, went to the bathroom and didn't have any extra pants, plus it was so close to end of school, that I just ended up cleaning myself and wore the sweater around my hips for the rest of the day until I got home. Jesus though, thinking about middle school is a horrifying thought. So many embarrassing moments to mortify yourself with over a decade later. lol

I see Key West, I’m reminded of my most recent visit, on a cruise with my parents. (Yes, I’m one of those!) We went on a pub crawl but I’m in a wheelchair, and the poor pub crawl leader, who is definitely just a local alcoholic making money doing what he loves, had to reroute us a bunch to make it wheelchair accessible. I actually felt a little bad because he seemed overwhelmed. (And I blamed the cruise line more for not arranging accessible pub crawls.) At the end of the day the guy gave me a kiss on the cheek. I think it was an apology.
