stella in the book has confidence issues and low self-esteem because her whole family is really smart, and she just took an iq test (her iq was 82 or something like this). She always felt like she was less than them, but at the end, she discovers she suffers from a learning disability and then accepts herself. it's a very sweet message and i kinda wish disney had kept it in the actual movie.

ok the scene where olivia is basically going off on wen because he has no right to feel sorry for himself doesn't really sit right with me tbh. like of course the fact that her mom is dead and that she doesn't have any memories of her and that her father is prison so she can't see him must be a very difficult thing to go through, but who is she to tell wen that he can't be upset that his dad is marrying someone new??? like sure maybe that doesn't seem like it's that big of a deal, but to him it is and she doesn't have a right to undermine his feelings like that by basically implying that she has it worse so he can't be sad. idk rewatching the movie as an adult i don't really like that part, but maybe it's just me lmao

Yeah I had a friend like that, I could never have any bad feelings because she would just invalidate me constantly

I feel like it was less about invalidating his feelings and more about making him realize what he has. Sure he has the right to his feelings, but he was being incredibly rude to Sydney and shutting down every attempt she made to connect with him in any way. I think his father could've handled it better, but for someone like Olivia hearing him repeatedly complain about something she would kill for was just too much. And it did help him open up to Sydney.
@killerkimmy78583 жыл бұрын
As somebody who deals with a lot of step parent drama I kind of understand and honestly I do think that it could have been handled better but I think it was meant to be her her snapping at him after being tired of hearing About how awful it was that his dad was dating someone after everything she's been through she should never undermine his feelings but she also has the right to voice her own feelings He should have said something back though because it shouldn't have been seen as OK that she said that

"The athletes get to leave school, or eat better lunches or something." No joke my high school was like this. Grew up in a football town where everyone in town has nothing better to do than watch high school football whether they have kids on the team or not. I always thought it was weird but when all you have is a ghost town bowling alley, and a run down movie theater what else are you going to do? Generally speaking athletes were carried through grades even if they completely flunked, allowed to skip ahead of everyone in the lunch lines, were given the better food options without charge, and were allowed to go back up again and get as many servings as they wanted. We even had a little food cart in the cafeteria that sold better hot foods and energy drinks, it wasn't part of the school lunch program and you had to pay to eat there. Jocks got vouchers to get free pizza and energy drinks at lunches not specified that it had to be their lunches either, so a lot of people would just hang out in the cafeteria during classes. And on top of that if you were over 16 you could just come and go from the school as you pleased so not only athletes but their friends, girlfriends and the stoners would just dip in and out of school to go to coffee shops, and come back to hang out with friends. Our truancy officer really seemed like he was sleeping on the job most of the time. Athletes never got into trouble for anything and even if they did something worth going to the principles office or getting suspended it was always a friendly pat on the back, don't do it again you've got your future to think about, and an ISS (In School Suspension) at worst. Which really means you still come to school and get to roam around the halls and library without having to go to class or do any work since our ISS guy didn't really give a shit. Despite all the special privilege's though there wasn't really rampant bullying in our high school. I think everyone got that out of their systems in elementary and middle school because by high school everyone was so far up their own asses they didn't have time to harass anyone else but their own friends and followers.
