Very well done (except for the audio when you sped up the video :) I like the fact that you went into detail on what you were doing - definitely will help you when it comes to reassembly! Can't wait to see what you're doing next. This brought back some memories - I had hydraulic brakes on my 1929 Model A hot rod in college in the early 1960s! Would have been nice to have video recording back then !!!

Yeah that would be cool to have more videos of the original hot rodders building their rods from back then. I watch all the old footage I can find.

What year/model did those backing plates come from? I'd guess 42-48 Ford ??

My entire rear end and brakes came from a 46 Ford truck. So your guess is correct!

Adjusting those are a royal pain in the ass I have a 1942 Ford pickup F1 short narrow box it's been a nightmare I still don't have them correct I have to rip mine all the way back apart because I put the shoes on backwards listening to my dad and my friend that owns a old car parts store their used to Chevrolet brakes not the old Ford's and I finally got the right emergency brake cables to put on it hopefully their the correct length they look correct but they look short and I got some c-clips for where those hog clips are at their a pain in the ass to get back on they like to break

Hi Juan, yeah if the shoes are backwards I don’t think you’d ever get them adjusted right because they are different lengths and the shoe arrangement is critical to how they “energize” during braking. When you take them apart to correct the shoes, note the adjuster cam orientation for each one and the direction you need to turn the adjuster to expand the shoes. Then adjust them all to their lowest points before reinstalling the drums, then you only need to worry about adjusting them out. Also make sure your drums are not wore out because no amount of adjusting will fix that. The last thing is you need to bed the shoes in to the drums and you may have to adjust them and bed them several times in small increments to get them right. Good luck and thanks for watching!
