Something a little different for you this week - treat it like a relaxing, calm and cosy soundtrack to whatever you're doing! Maybe you're doing a boring or dull task like cleaning and you want something to have on in the background!
These quotes truly are wonderful and are very thought provoking. I hope it not only serves as good listening practice but also some food for thought :-)
Confession:
I couldn't find my novels "Persuasion" or "Mansfield Park" after literally searching EVERYWHERE! So I had to write out the quotes and tuck them into the other novels to read them. Oops! Sorry :-)

Aww my delightful and exquisite Katherine, my gosh! That was so beautiful! There would be a lot to say here about all that wonderful literature and such lovely quotes, but what I wanna say, what moves me, what overwhems me the most is your reading, the tone, your sweetness, accent, your voice which is just to die for. You know what, I somehow felt I was like in a reverse version of 'The Reader' where this time and in that scenario, you would be my Kate Winslet reading for me! You are a born storyteller and you'd probably have been a magnificent actress! Have you ever acted in theatre pieces or sth by the way? Sorry Katherine, but I have no other word than, I know, the rather poor and overused, 'beautiful' to qualify your video. @@englishwithkatharine Sorry Katherine, I am still moved at the moment and to tell you the truth. You are just divine. You know, I was thinking.... You are probably that kind of teacher that terribly lacks to the national education. For you show us the real beauty of the language. You convey with passion the beauty of the language in the most beautiful of ways. Of course, both form and substance are important. Now I remember how teachers would teach us the fables of Lafontaine for example ... Of course, all teachers don't have the vocation to be interpretors or actors, I can grab that, but the way they would read them was often so terrible and dull. A good reading, trying to find what I call 'the right note, the intention' is 80% of the work done because then the sense goes along with it and comes naturally. Instead of what pupils had to learn the fables by heart not understanding a thing and often just being 'gutted' with it. And teachers insisted on the 'morale' of the story or tale when the essential is elsewhere in my opinion ... The gist resides in the beauty of the language, in the arrangement of words, their combination, their rhythm, how they sound, how they are said and livened; the treasure is in the the journey even more than the destination, the beauty of words and their telling which only can give you a taste for poetry and literature. It comes to my mind, because I re-read the fables way later and well, these are just absolute marvels of writing regardless of the 'morales'. Now what is indeed fabulous is that, in Lafontaine in this instance,the extraodinary form goes along with meaning and that is absolutely wonderful, the reason why he is perhaps the greatest French writer ever. (Of course there are many others ;-) Merci Kate! 😘🌹
