That quote does not come from Ru Paul. I get the impression that Ru cares VERY much what others Think about her/him, otherwise why does s/he go to all the trouble of dress-ups and runway shows? S/He cares very much about appearances and image but then pretends to a kind of "drag Oprah" teaching people that appearances aren't important and that we should just all love one another. S/he lives in a huge gawky mansion yet tells us that appearances (and gender) aren't important.

But why they act said way is quite understandable in my opinion. I know you were just writing a statement. I guess neutral. No connotation. But the question remains.

I agree too. Happened to me on my last job. I accepted a job where most employees were bitter, and insecure. I was physically threatened, more than once, and sexually harassed. HR is never on our side. My boss said I provoked people to want to hurt me, and I had to learn to deal with different personalities. My boss then retaliated against me, limiting my responsibilities, and gaslighting me under micromanaging. I eventually quit almost 2 years later, and was able to file for unemployment due to a hostile work environment. I needed a job, and desperately tried to make my situation better at work. Actually, i get what you mean. The world kind of lets you know if you are considered likeable, over time. Part of it is consistency. People don't like it when they start off liking you but then you show a different side another day that's a bit more judgemental or irritable. Also, a lot if it is unspoken vibes and body language that maybe doesn't suit people. I've accepted that I'm ok in short conversations but I just don't have "long haul" likeability that puts people totally at ease. I've been married forever so at least my wife likes me. Lol !

@@GUITARTIME2024 This is v interesting. I know what you mean about consistency. I suffer from depression and migraines so I'm not the most consistent person and it's true how it affects friendships. I don't find people v tolerant or understanding of depression and I suppose from their viewpoint they probably think why spend time with someone who isn't lifting them up all the time. When I meet a lot of people it's like they just don't want to be friends, I think I'm just not upbeat or as energetic as they like or something, and in turn I often find them too loud, confident and positive in a way I find hard to relate to. On the other hand I've noticed some people seem to instantly like and respect me no matter what and they're the best people to have in my life because they tolerate variability in my mood and availability and they see my strengths over my weaknesses.

Is there no chance to change your job and start clean? I'm genuinely curious as I am about to get into this adult world and I just wonder, is it at some point impossible to change your job? Also, I think about the tools, that it's mainly being consistent. Like, training every day. Maybe, make it a goal to write something beautiful about yourself everyday at all costs and some days, youll have to do something out of your comfort in order to write something new. At least that is what I do, when I feel like nothing and it gradually helps, when you start seeking beautiful things in yourself.

No chance at all .. forgotten about, left out, judged, criticised for being a Christian, ignored. It got to the stage when I DECIDED to walk away like the strong person I am. I was tired of 'making things work' or being the only one who wanted to catch up! I'm done I'm not going to flog a dead horse when nobody cares enough to include me, think of me or to even text or call! I have Jesus Christ, my cats and young adult children and I am very content with that!! I am 57 years old and I still get to hear about all the things I am doing to my narcissistic sibling who I don't talk to nor want anything to do with because of my siblings behavior. It hurts for sure. Especially when family I haven't even met tells me on Facebook I really am a bitch, which they believe only because of the hate in my siblings heart that was put out there for others to hear. I can't stop what is said and I don't have to put up with the behavior. Shutting the door and moving on is all I can do. Nor do I have any respect for people who believe the words other people use to hate on someone else just because it was said. If people don't want to get to know me and make their own judgements without the gossip, then that just tells me a lot about them as well.

My husband is 20 years older than me - we have been married for 19 years and have a 15 year old son. As a family we have always had problems making friends or being accepted by all sorts of groups, neighbors, churches, teachers, doctor’s offices, etc. - our son has also problems making friends. I am the first target when we go to any gathering other than those with close family. People are usually suspicious and judgmental of me. It is all very sad and I came to a point of becoming convinced having friends was not for us and that I had to accept us being singled out because we chose to marry each other. My husband by the way was divorced long before he ever met me and our son is his only son. Being ‘ disliked’ or ‘unlikable’ is a constant in my life…

Beware of people who are toxic or narcissists because they are the ones who will never be pleased unless they do their own journey of self-growth. You need to recognise indeed when directed criticism is valid or invalid. If invalid it’s important to assertively stand up for yourself and cut out this person from your life if they keep on subjecting you to negativity for the sake of bringing you down instead of helping you grow and improve as a human being in a positive direction.

"And what you also find is that most people who don't like you are really struggling to like themselves." In fact, most judgments made about you are merely projections of things they either don't like about themselves or things they recognize they have a potential to become. Or sometimes they are just revisiting a past experience with someone else because something about you reminds them of that person. Judgments aimed at you are rarely ever actually about you, and reflect more about that person and their experiences than they reflect about you.

You took a job where hating other people is a requirement. I mean, it's actively anti-worker and in favor of defending the company at any and all costs. Most of the people I've known in HR will pretend to be my friend, but only when they have an ulterior motive. HR workers have a reputation. In my case, it's taking advantage of an Autistic adult. Is the job an accurate reflection of you? Or has the job put you in this position?

I definitely struggle with being insecure and easily effected knowing people dislike me. I try to just lay low and not interact but I still feel exhausted, even, resentful with the fact that I have no interest being in their world yet they find everything I do or don't do to be offensive and fuels their distrust and distaste towards me. When I do try to let it go... the insecure feelings come rushing back as soon as I have to cross paths with them again. Then I'm stuck ruminating over the interaction for another 2 weeks where again I just want to lash out and give them more reasons to dislike me. Nevertheless, I appreciated youtube recommending your video. I needed another reminder from a calm soul with some sage advice. Thanks for that.

Youre authenticity is causing them to look at things in them selves they dislike. They will never be like you and it bothers them. The more authenticly genuine and loving I am with people the more it upsets them and a few have gotten enraged. You are authentically loving. Do not not stop. Mother Theresa said: People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered; Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between you and them anyway.

thanks for the reminder. Recently a lot of our neighbourhood community is hating on us for not letting any bulldozers scratch off soil from the dirt road. Our land is cut in half because of a man-made road. We just bought this land. If the bulldozer keeps doing the same routine of scratching off soil from the sides of the road, the slope in both sides will start crumbling and there would be massive soil erosion. The locals don't understand this. They have very little education about environmental protection and soil erosion. They think that we are stopping their "progress". They also want a new cemented road leading to nearby protected mountains. Mountains that have already even been deforested. Nobody cares about the trees, they want the profit. If the roads keep on being built, more trucks and more investors will come. More business people, who will take over the mountains will build hotels and pollute the area. The locals don't know this. They don't think about the consequences. So we're the only ones that are trying hard to stop this and they hate us for it. I wish they would understand. Even if you try to explain to them about this, they will not listen. They will only listen to the government because they believe so much as the government is saying, even though the govt. itself is doing little to protect the environment. Let them hate me. I can die knowing I tried my best in protecting the mountains, the birds, the trees, the little bacteria, mushrooms and fungi, and every little living thing in our area.

Don't know how much of it is a choice..it seems we either contain enough wisdom to instinctively forgive at the time, or we don't..there is no choice in the matter it's either you're in good shape spiritually or you're not. Once the situation comes up only the current strength of spirit determines if forgiveness can arise or not..it's important to not fool ourself into suppressing resentment and calling it forgiving
