Hey Stefano. Good video man. My 2 cents worth (or should i say pence worth in the UK lol ) -- What may improve things for you is to bypass FUSE in Unraid. To do this goto global share settings and enable "Permit exclusive shares" this will then bypass the FUSE layer on a share created in your pool. Also I would use ZFS RAID0 rather than BTRFS as ZFS uses ARC cache which too can improve performance

This is just a ploy by you to get me to use ZedFS. You have been planning this for years.

I stopped buying WD Red drives in light of their WDDA "power on warning" that trips automatically even though there's nothing wrong with the drive (health report said they're OK). I switched to Iron Wolf's for my current builds.

Oh haven't heard that one. It just sucks that WD has bought up all the alternative good brands like HGST. Honestly, I feel like when and if I do buy brand new drives they will be SG because of how untrustworthy WD has become.

I have an Array, and two SSD cache drives. When I transfer files from my PC to unraid the files stay at cache drive then at 3am I have schedule it move to my Array. My current network is 10GB/s. My speed when transfer into unraid is good and constant thanks to the cache drives. However, when I transfer my files from unraid to my PC a certain files and certain folders have really slow speed I'm talking about 20MBs instead of regular 200-280MBs. Even the files within the same folders somes have really slow speed transfer. I've checked and those files are currently storing in the same disk of the array. I'm not sure if I have set up something wrong. i'm currently running xfs for my pool

I also was frustrated by slow transfer speeds with an UnRaid all nvme pool. Thought it was FUSE related but the found it was partially windows 11 drivers for my older Intel x520. I also adjusted flow control and nic offloading and tx/rx buffers with the Tips and Tweaks plugin. Oddly it now shows them as default (flow off, offload on, 512, 512) but maybe just changing them helped reset old configurations. The server has been through many upgrades. Also make sure that the CPUs are running with Performance or SchedlUtl so they can handle the traffic. Now I get close to 1GB/s up and down from my workstation, streaming pc, and proxmox server. It was annoying me for well over a year until I spent a day to figure it out. My speeds were similar to yours and worked for 4K editing but double the transfer rate is nice for moving big files.

I have been struggling with getting my unraid server to perform well, my hdd array is faster than my SSD pool….. Couldn’t ever figure it out, kinda sucks when I am trying to run VM’s off of the SSD pool. TBH I probably will never be able to find a NAS software that works for me, just like Proxmox every time o try Truenas it just blows up on me for no reason and either takes data with it or ends up broken in such a way that I can’t fix and have to reinstall. For example, LACP doesn’t work and has NEVER worked on TN yet they say it does and it’s “user error” then doesn’t give any info on why.

I spent about 3 days changing all sorts of things and was never able to hit 1GBps like I used to. Imma spend more time with it again later because I still really like the mover action to the array.

I think the issue is btrfs. I couldn't get over 500Mb transfer to btrfs nvme disk but with xfs on the same drive it was 1Gb. So likely a single 4Tb xfs cache drive would be better than a 4x 1Tb btrfs pool. ZFS was also slow in unraid.
@SPXLabs
@SPXLabs 9 ай бұрын
That’s possible. On the Red Hat side I used XFS and got over 500MB/s. There is no option for XFS raid pools though in Unraid. :(

Possible. I think it’s something else specifically with SAMBA. I tried NFS also with Unraid and had slow transfers. It’s not the network though. Or any hardware
