Let's Build: Astro Boy Mechanical Clear Brick Kit!

Time for another brick kit assembly! This mechanical cross section model of the iconic Astro Boy comes from Pantasy, an alternative brick building system that's LEGO compatible. At 1250 pieces plus an LED lighting kit, it takes about four hours to assemble, sped up here for your enjoyment in a relaxing time-lapse.

If you looking for brick set suggestions... maybe a fan made Legend of Zelda set. News today was Lego Idea's website is not only rejecting The Legend of Zelda fan ideas but outright banning them, due to a potential Intellectual Property/Licencing conflict.

I'll be honest better them banning them before they get the 10k votes if they know they can't produce them into sets anyway. As much as I'd love a legend of Zelda set or some more official Nintendo sets. Seeing them in Lego ideas getting the votes then rejected over the years has been hard to watch.

Does anyone know of a Lego-like build of the TARDIS? Years ago I found directions on how to build one, but I can't find a good size one in a kit. Lego only made small ones as part of a bigger scene.

I was contemplating getting this. But, I'm not really an Astroboy fan.. not that I dislike him, I simply never go into it. Still, this is cool looking and like some posters/artwork and toys I've seen that look pretty much just like this. I recently bought and built The Great Wave from Pantasy. Pretty cool Lego-esque representation of the famous Japanese woodblock print. I was inspired to try and build a Lego version of some famous artwork by the Lego Van Gogh Starry Night set and found it while browsing. I don't know the brick count for The Great Wave? But, I think each brick bag set, 7 bag sets total, took about an hour or more to complete.. so, nearly 8 hours, maybe? Didnt seem like THAT much, but every bit adds up time. The quality of the pieces aren't too bad. I'd say they fit just a tiny tad tighter than Lego ones.. Legos tend to snap together a little easier/smoother. Otherwise, I had no major fitment issues. Instructions are actually better illustrated than LEGO's.. at least each image that shows you what you're slowly building up they highlight and easily see what and where. LEGO instructions don't do that so you really have to be sure you see exactly where all the new pieces you are adding go.

Relaxing would be a real time build, the high speed version freaked me out a bit. But a nice kit that looked like a challenge.

I have several non-LEGO sets and the quality of the parts is on par with the "real" thing. And you're right, the printed parts and custom pieces are beginning to surpass LEGO.

Maybe don't build kits from a place who's copyright laws allow for counterfeit everything. Not to mention the lead contamination. I'd wash my hands and get a heavy metal test after building that.

Not necessarily. I have the Lepin Millennium Falcon and a Zinbaou Colonial Viper MOC and both are outstanding models with components that are indistinguishable from LEGO.
