I used to have a fluorescent model of Frankenstein's Monster when I was a kid, it would glow brilliantly when a black light was shined on it. 😃

Dear Norm, Thank You! For your video on the Creature From The Black Lagoon plastic. model kit. I'am 63yrs. young been model kits since before I was 6yrs. old. My all time fav. is Aurora's Creature From The Black Lagoon which first came out in 1963. The mold as been out for 40 years or more. Model Company's such as Aurora, Revell, Monogram, Polar Lights, now Super 7 as well Atlantis Models. Atlantis Model of the Creature (i.e Gillman) is out at your fav. model shop. Maybe, in the future they will re-lease the Creature in sq. box with Glow-In-The Dark pieces. Yes, I just must buy this Creature kit! Norm, model tip: If you ever build this kit again...Build the legs first...Glue legs together as one piece together then the main body. Then, glue parts together as one! You, got it Norm! Norm, I'am so proud of YOU, been watching your modeling life for years. Thank You again for your video. Your the "Greatest"! Matthew S. Holder (i.e Fellow Modeler and Kit Collector) a.k.a. creaturman

I think best thing to do with this model is hit it with a bit of green acrylic ink, to tint it but keep the translucent look

Super7 should reissue all the old monsters - Wolfman, The Mummy, Frankenstein, Dracula. I’d build them all.

I love how Somethings change,but remain the same . I built one of those creature of the black lagoon kits when I was kid in the 70's ( it wasn't transparent )

I remember buying glow in the dark creature which at the time (2010) was less money than the standard creature model from polar lights. The glow in the dark mold/cast is identical, So I just painted over the glow plastic and it ended up looking like the regular Polar Lights creature model and was less money to purchace.

My sister used to Cut Ben Chapman's hair in Honolulu before he passed and he sent me a bunch of autographed pictures of himself. And my step father was Richard Denning who was in the original movie too.

My hometown, it has a museum, as well as being on Route 66. In the museum they have a theater that you can sit in a car, as a drive-in theater would be with showings of various movies including "The Creature From The Black Lagoon".

I did the reissue of this original kit during lockdown (uni monster models were my pandemic hobby)! I had to do quite a bit of additional sculpting on the head to get rid of that unsightly overlap at the top. Ended up painting it in a silver screen b&w scheme.

Just curious, did the CA glue end up fogging the clear plastic at all after it dried?

Lungs? He had no lungs ... he breathed using gills ... 'The Gill Man' ... he only had lungs in "The Creature Walks Among Us", AFTER they gave him lungs. But the model represents the creature while he lived in the Black Lagoon.

Cool trivia! I haven’t watched any of the movies because they weren’t popular where I’m from but I will now!
@oftenspanx

Was that not the point of the exposition in Black Lagoon at the start, when they were talking about the lung-fish? Then how much time it spent on land doing what seemed like respiration? Idk, I have actually only ever seen CFTBL, favorite folm as a child, growing up I was vaguely aware other creature features with the Gill Man, but have never seen them, but I had always thought he did have at least underdeveloped lungs.

@@EXPLICITBG More trivia ... the 'Gill Man' is the only original monster developed by Universal Studios! All the others were from novels, or ancient folklore. The Creature From The Black Lagoon was a fully original concept. And ... a cool movie! ;)

The Gillman definitely has a skeleton. The fossilized hand included with this kit is from another of his species, not a victim.

love Creature From The Black Lagoon, it's my favourite of the Universal Monster movies. i would love to see a remake of it done by Leigh Whannell, his films Upgrade & The Invisble Man are two of the best movies i've seen in recent years and i think he'd do a stellar job at remaking Creature.

This model cries out to have some painting done on the inside surfaces and some LED or UV lighting effects; lines of UV paint along the inside back of the torso and limbs would really set it off. Paint the base solid and then hide a powerful LED in there, it should shine up the legs and make the rest of the figure glow a little. Why make it transparent *everywhere* and make all the little details impossible to appreciate?

A good idea, poorly executed. There absolutely should have been a skeleton, and surrounding guts and flesh should be translucent red, not pink.
