Btw. there is a module from squinky labs that is called "substitute" and it's basically a subharmonicon oscillator. Using that one instead of building it all out of other modules saves space and its more convenient in my humble opinion.

Excellent demonstration of the power to (re)create your own dream synths with VCV (and real modular), but also managing a bit of expectations of how much modules would be needed to finally get what you want. VCV is not free, this patch costs -800 euro. It's like polarizing expenses :).

Really great stuff. It looks like with VCV Rack 2 some of these modules haven't been updated, namely the Glue labeler and the Re-win quantizer. Could you suggest another quantizer that would substitute well? I've tried to build it using 2 of the standard VCV Rack QNT module but I am not sure it behaves exactly the same.

Many thanks for another great tutorial! I have a couple of questions/possible issues. I put a scope on the output from the Frequency Divider and it looks as if regardless of the shape of the input wave, the output is a square wave. I am assuming that in the Subharmonicon itself, the sub oscillator waves match the VCO waves. Does that make sense.? The other thing I notices is that in your strip version the Glue labels are lost. Not sure if this is a problem with Strip or Glue or both.
@OmriCohen-Music
@OmriCohen-Music 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! About the sub oscillators, yes, the way I'm doing it will only produce pulse waves unfortunately. On the Subharmonicon you can also have saw waves for the subs. About the Strip file, that's a shame that it doesn't work, I will notify the developer. Cheers!

Hi Omri, another fantastic video, so much appreciated and I was hoping to buy a Moog at some point and so I've been looking at your brilliant patches to decide which one to get first- I had a couple of questions to ask you about the patches you made if you didn't mind on the Subharmicon. 1. Is that correct that both ocillators trigger if only one or several sequencer rhythms has been selected in the bus route on one side - for instance if you choose top left sequence 1 green - both occilators gate/trigger? So you can't have an independent rhythm for each osccilator ie send different rhythms to each,? I tried to do sep rhythms but they both trigger - you can direct the two 4 step cv steps to each occilator independently as expected. 2. The patch Master VCV 2 version of the patch is very nicely laidout so very clear but it plays very different and is less melodic- is that just because of the tuning of the quantizer - they are so different in feel. I wondered what is closer to the real Moog in your opinion. Anyway thanks again I love your awsome videos!

Hi! Well, I never played with the actual Subharmonicon so there's a chance I misinterpreted something from the manual and videos I watched. I think it's best if someone who has the Subharmonicon could help with this. In the newer version I used different quantization so there's a chance it might work a bit differently...

@@OmriCohen-Music thanks so much for your reply I have been working with you template and its fantastic - I made a couple of changes ie using the Count Modular Polyrhymic generator as it seemed more stable - I adapted it to have it as separate sequences but I intend to buy a Subharmicon soon so I'll let you know! I have a feeling it does trigger both but I can check when I get one thanks again - alos playing with your Dfam build - also brill!!!!!

That's a preset with all the modules you can load into any patch. It will load the modules with the connections made already. You will need the Strip module for that - library.vcvrack.com/Stoermelder-P1

Great ! :) I recently stumbled (think it was the Colin Benders streams) over the ACL Sinfonion (some sort of "Super Jam multichannel Quantizer/Chord Sequencer/Arp") (audiophilecircuitsleague.com/products/sinfonion.php) and wonder if something like it could be replicated in VCV Rack (with the emphesis on playability, e.g, to be able to thin out allowed notes of the scale, add blue-notes etc. with dedicated on/off key commands on a computer keyboard or midi device).

No worries :) I'm not so sure what modules are available in miRack but you will need some sort of router with buttons for the bus route, and for the divider, you can use a clock divider which will do more or less the same.
