We start off by doing some easy mods to the outside of the model to make it more screen accurate. Also, I discuss my plans for lighting the model with LED's.

Awesome video series and build of this cool model. Do you have a list available of the parts you used for lighting the kit? Thanks!

That will look awesome when it’s done.

I'm not a rich guy so I try and save when I can. Also, I do enjoy trying to make my own improvements.

Why are you gluing brass with liquid plastic cement?

I recall, reading somewhere, that the studio model did not have any glass on the windows. They purposely left it out.

Boyd, here is something to help with bending. I don't have this exact one but you it helps me when I am making a bend for scratchbuilding. Thank you sir.

@@TrekWorks I've used resistor lead bending jigs to scratchbuild similar parts. Cheap and effective.

Always great fun to watch you build. I’m really disappointed we never got our show off the ground. You are so much fun to watch.

Thanks Phil, for me it was the thought that counted! I hope in your own way you can do it with your channel and the connections you make with others who build. Your videos show how much you love the hobby. Keep up the great job and that positive attitude :)

The back cabin lighting is a pale blue in the film, it's going to look fantastic when your done Boyd.👍

@@TrekWorks No problem Boyd, you could try a piece of frosted plastic and some Tamiya translucent Blue, just a thought.👍

red led and white and hope the bleed works ! alternatively use some craft static cling red or orange transparent film, apply to inside cockpit window then use white led, you get white light from cabin and red or orange from cockpit ! less led, less hassle, same effect. K.I.S.S. A friend did a ufo with green and yellow lights, 1 set of led and green and yellow transparent chocolateswrappers from a variety tin.

Besides painting, my favorite part of building these is working through ideas that pop up about making it better and more interesting.

You know, I hate those people that talk about accuracy! They’re not modellers, they don’t like to build, they just like to complain! I like where you’re going with this one Boyd! Nice mods so far, can’t wait to see the next update! Have a great day! Model on!

When building my star ships the Polar lights, I prep everything I can and then give the inside hulls a coat of chrome paint really reflects the lights, I use the miniature small LEDs on a 5ft strand works with batteries and other LEDs.

Aftermarket goodies are great but I like to do my own because it's fun and to save some $ whenever possible. The paint and the lighting should make this thing pop pretty good.

I would think that would be one of the easiest to scratch builds to try...use wood or styrofoam and make it 1X4X9, make it as smooth as you can and paint it a semi-gloss black. I could be overthinking it, though....

@@TrekWorks Could be made from sheet styrene easily, it's a simple rectangular prism shape. Dimensions in the novel were supposed to be in the ratio of 1 : 4 : 9 (squares of the first three integers 1,2,3) but were described as 1.25 ft × 5 ft × 11 ft (a ratio of 1:4:8.8), so just pick a ratio and scale to desired proportion for a diorama or whatever.

@@markfergerson2145 I'll probably put one in my diorama for an extra detail.
