In this video I finish the final assembly and painting of the Moon bus model and show you how to install power contact points on the outside for the LED lighting.

Thanks for the memory! I had a version of that model I made in the early 70’s. I was in 4th grade….needless to say, the paint and finish was rather basic! The video brought big smiles to my day!

It's pretty handy if you don't want to hard wire to a base.

I like the red cockpit lighting, and how it glows on the flat black. Also, the flickering blue light in there, makes it look like there’s active flight controls and computers in there, really cool. Can’t wait to see the final assembly and your base. You should make yourself a board/background that looks like space, with little white dots/stars all over it, for when you display it. Cheers

Beautiful build, Boyd! Turned out great! I love the metal contacts for power in the feet! This was one of my first sci-fi models as a kid and really got me hooked on 2001! I got it as a Christmas gift in the early 70s!

A few years ago, I sat down with my son (I guess about 20 at the time) and watched 2001: A Space Odyssey. His response was something akin to having seen something really special. A true film. I was afraid that all of the heartbeats and breathing stuff would turn him off. Your rendition of the kit is really top notch. The lighting is perfect.

I would LOVE to start carrying model kits in my retail store, I have been having trouble finding distributors to get them. The kits I want to carry are inspired by the ones built on this channel! Great promotion! (Hopefully model manufacturers start sending you review kits!)

Absolutely outstanding. I'm sure the moonscape will make for a nice base. Another option might have been the landing pad it set down on when it arrived at the TMA-1 crater.

I thought initially the cloth was to protect the rest of the model from being touched with gluey fingers, given the fiddling with the wires you had to do in the confined space after applying the glue. I hate when I'm working on something and get to a step where something simple suddenly turns difficult and you have partially setting glue on your fingers getting everywhere if you're not careful. I guess that could be a good precaution to take if one thinks ahead enough and expects that could be an issue. The model is looking great!

Not a problem with your model, but I don’t like the “nose bridge” feature between the front cockpit windows. I’d assume it would block the view from either seat of close objects to the right and left at close range

I'm never without awe when I see your work, you are very talented my friend. Thats a cool idea with the electrical contact points as always the paint job is awesome and the weathering looks great...were the grab handles on the movies version on the Moon Bus? I didn't see that in the movie...either way that detail looks real cool.
