I actually love this bc I tend to eat my meal (with some fruit on the side), and then "wait" to have dessert after. I end up trying to convince myself not to have the dessert even if I want it. 😅 thanks abbey, deff going to try this!

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” ‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NIV‬ Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ROMANS 10:9-11 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame” “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭19:10‬ ‭ God wants us to believe in His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins :D When we truly believe in our hearts that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for our sins so we could have eternal life with God, we are saved, and have life in Jesus Christ 💗 Jesus genuinely loves you, and always waits for you to come to Him 🕊💞 May God bless you all ❤

I have also found this to help with cravings. If I buy something that's all sugar and chocolate and delicious I'll eat it in a day. Doesn't matter how much there is. It might last two if there's a lot of it. If, however, I make a point of incorporating it until a meal (especially if I have to pack lunch for that day anyway or something) then I don't want it outside of that meal. Not nearly as much anyway. It just isn't as fun and special and different anymore and it's kinda lovely

It's sort of like when our mom would send us to school with a little ziplock bag of chips for lunch. That little bit was incorporated into the meal, rather than giving us the whole bag at home and expecting us to stop

Thank you so much for this. Everything in moderation right. I don't buy chips or cookies for the house because I'll night binge and eat the whole container and wake up feeling awful about myself. I'm gonna try this, make a plate with some fruit and nuts and one serving of chips inatead of sitting down with the whole bag

I actually love doing this. It makes the healthy food seem more satisfying to my cravings, and the "junk" food seem more filling so I don't feel the need to have the whole container of cookies. My favorite is a cookie with Greek yogurt and some berries.

Where were you during my childhood (I know, not born yet). My baby boomer aunt struggled with an eating disorder her whole life and I think that this would have been a game changer not just for her, but for my relationship with her. I've always had a sweet tooth, and she just couldn't cope. I think that this trick would have been great for us both.

We found we actually eat healthier in my house if we do this-we include dessert/a treat with every dinner and some lunches if we want. And often we’re full from dinner and don’t even want it. Or sometimes we start with dessert and eat less of the main meal. It really is genius

Done this and it does work. After I struggled with ED. Less I told myself I couldn't have things, the less I craved them. The more I "pumped" myself up about the other foods being equally exciting, I looked forward to those as well. So having fruit as dessert was often a choice I looked forward to and didn't even think about a cookie but also some days I was like, yep cookie day. And I didn't feel any different ❤. Sometimes together ❤

You need to get about four cookies and layer then up woth apples and chocolate nibs and penaut butter and whatever else ... or if your eally just want two cookies crush them up and make a sunday with them and fruit and like fill a bowl. Like whatever volume of cookies you normally eat say if thats ten cookies fits into a big bowl or 6 in a small bowl fill that bowl with bananas and apples and yoghurt and caramel sauce and like proer nice homemade caramel sauce and like make it a friggen amazing banana split cookie sensation. A bag of cookies is so plain and boring and kinda sad. Make it an amazing dish like you would with a salad ...you wouldnt just sit and eat the mayonaise out of the jar you crush this and chop that and arange it nice. Do that with the cookies. Or...make homemade cookies theyre so easy and when you spend time making them you dont just eat them all cos you reslly apprecoate each and everu one. Hope that helps!

This works great with kids too. All the food that we cooked for dinner has to be on the plate. No one is forced to eat it but my kids will mostly be willing to at least try it if it’s on the plate. Sometimes after the 10th or 20th time it’s on their plate they will try it and sometimes they actually like it

Also by getting to know the ingredients that go into the cookies and being more familiar with everything, you’re more thinking about the butter which are healthy fats, and the egg which is healthy and the milk which has good things that we need too. There is benefit to all of the ingredients in moderation - too much of anything isnt good. But getting to make it from home first helps you appreciate the ingredients separately as well. There’s much more I could say! Stay strong guys

Let’s not pretend like cookies and whole foods like vegetables for example are equal. Imo it’s way better to recognize that cookies are “fun foods” that are ok to have on an occasion while also being aware that there’s zero nutritional value in them and eating too many is just bad for you in the long run. Yeah you shouldn’t label them as fear foods either, but let’s be real there’s nothing valuable in them (nutrition wise) aside from them tasting good
@Shayron1989
@Shayron1989 Жыл бұрын
She’s speaking to people who binge and/or restrict. Any labelling of food as good/bad, healthy/unhealthy, fun etc can trigger binges and/or restrictions in those of us who have disordered eating. Yes, we know that there is different nutritional values in foods, but ultimately that knowledge has not helped us eat in moderation. If you don’t get why this would be useful, you’re not her target audience.

@Rama-zg3tj
@Rama-zg3tj Жыл бұрын
Maybe you should intentionally pour the whole thing into a plate and enjoy each piece. Make the intention of eating the whole thing as a “meal” and give yourself permission to eat them. That way you can’t go back for the can and binge on it but rather eat and savor without feeling like an uncontrollable food monster (that’s how I feel with my binge episodes :( and you could also end up finding yourself feeling much more satisfied and fuller. but anyway, I’m no professional whatsoever but I truly do hope you find this somewhat helpful. This is also why whenever I have cookies I always like to eat them with some soy-milk because then I feel like I’m getting the stabilizing fat and protein compounds, to keep my blood sugar from spiking too much and prevents me from wanting to go on an all out binge. Having a little fruit beforehand like you did here also helps because it puts down a base of fiber from the complex carbohydrates before I start on the simple carbs, aka the cookie💯💖

How about just not eating the processed junk food and realizing you don’t need it or benefit from it to begin with. But I guess that’s eating disordered in your eyes because society puts pleasure seeking on a pedestal rather then discipline. There is a reason people don’t mentally feel good after eating something that objectively isn’t good.

"Everything in moderation" is bs. Look at the state America. Does it look like people can moderate? That word means 10 things to 10 different people. Plus, if there are, say, 50 junk foods that you are trying to moderate, then you'll likely be eating one of these "foods" frequently, and hence, not being truly moderate with crap foods in general.

@kobaltkween

@@CRG_ It's kinda true. You only become diabetic when your insulin resistance is so high that your body can't produce any more insulin than it already is, and your cells are so insulin resistant that they can't process sugar/simple starch. Moderation only matters as much as insulin sensitivity you have left. And your insulin sensitivity only increases after years of keeping your insulin levels low.
