Why your most liked videos are Star Wars... maybe they pop up when people search for Star Wars costumes??? That's how we found you. Why dog and cat videos are your next best liked??? Maybe because... I read that people have to look at dog and cats and pets in general and also people can't resist looking/watching people eat... wierd .. interesting... yes but maybe it's true. I know I watch AllEars a Disney channel ... mostly to watch Molly try food lol and describe the food. Ooooh maybe the Disney one was so popular because people search for Disney videos. I know we did before our trip to Disney a month ago.

I've been mainly house bound for over 10 years now, so this isn't really anything new for me. I did make a few tips for my friends who are struggling and they are as follows.... 1. Achieve a goal and be productive every day. Weather its sort paperwork, clean, or get to a new level on a game.. Just do it. 2. Find something you take comfort in. So for me that's watching Poriot and a comfy blanket with fuzzy socks. But you do you boo. 3. Go outside.. I mean like open your curtains, open a window, sit in your garden, just get some sunshine. 4. Take a moment to enjoy the little things. Stroke your cat and just take in the moment, give and accept hugs. 5. Always go to bed feeling good... With me, that's watching a movie I love, or messaging my friends and just having a geeky chat. If you have a partner give or get a cuddle and have a hot chocolate. These things have really helped me this last decade... So I hope it helps whom ever reads this xx

I’m a nurse at a primary care physician’s office. I’m so grateful to still have a job and be able to work, but at the same time it’s a bit nerve-wracking and intense. Although we aren’t as directly affected as those that work in the hospital, we still get a good amount of exposure. Our town is rather small, so our hospital isn’t optimally equipped for high amounts of patients. There have been no positive cases in our county, but there have been in surrounding counties. I found out earlier in the week that one town over, where I have many friends, there have been 3 confirmed cases and that town went on total lockdown. So many of my friends have lost their jobs and are left with minimal to no income and it just breaks my heart!! I just pray for everyone and my heart goes out to everyone right now in this very difficult point in time.

As an introvert who normally relishes a lot of alone time and being a homebody, I'm surprised at how...out of sorts I've felt. (I'm sure it's partly the anxiety surrounding this frightening time we're in right now. And being at high risk for my T1 diabetes, too.) But I'm trying to use this time to, like you mentioned, "be more creative" but...it's a struggle for me, too. :/ It's so hard not to get distracted all the time by what's happening. Stay safe and healthy! ❤️

I'm with you on that! Most of my hobbies are things I can do alone (knitting, sewing etc) but I'm not getting the same kind of relaxation/enjoyment out of my quiet solo activities these days. I saw someone say that they are reading the news for a short amount of time in the middle of the day so that they're not reading it right after waking up or right when they're going to sleep and that has helped me because I tend to spiral when my anxiety is heightened.

As an old spoonie, can't say I'm anxious about the uncertainty or when will I be able to leave my house, because after a while it just becomes normal. The transition is hard though, and acceptance comes at different speed for everybody, but I think the key is to look at it like grief work. Accept that this is out of your control, identify what in your new life situation is within your reach to work on and influence, be good to yourself and show a lot of forgiveness for all the miscommunication that's going to happen around you (it just will).

I totally agree it's an acceptance thing. Right before France went into lock down and we had to keep confined, my husband and I were loosing it over the fact we were living in a crappy apartment in a town we don't like because he's been unemployed for two years, and I'm on maternity leave and we're poor. We couldn't see a way out. And then, within 24hrs of announced lock down, we had finally come to terms with it and now we're at peace, even though technically are situation is worse. It's so strange...

Yey! Chatty chats are so lovely right now! And thank you for the hug! My secret to not being so anxious is just not reading the news. I check in once a day for an update of what's going on in my area and if there are any new restrictions to follow. And THAT'S IT. I really don't need the additional stress of reading about all the bad things happening around the globe. Also - I call and face time all my friends that I can't meet due to quarantine. Group calls are a saviour lol You can also watch movies with people at the same time and than have a chat about that - pretty fun. So - avoid the news and connect with people is my "staying sane" advice.

couch potato I have a lot of immune compromised family members, and I live out of state of most of my family so gathering together wouldn’t really be good (for the wedding). As for having another child I have to have a cesarean so I don’t really want to take away any care from other patients that might be needed- if things get worse they’ll need all hands on deck. Plus I don’t want our care to be neglected. It’s partially a choice as well, but I think it’s the right one. We’ll likely elope on a mountain somewhere with our photographer of things don’t get better by then, but my dress won’t be able to be fitted which will suck. As for kids we’ll see what happens. Hopefully everything gets back to normal.

I'm right there with you! I'm working from home but I don't have a lot to do (even normally - I look at it like I'm the firefighter at work) so I have all this time to be sewing bags and purses! But then I feel anxious and sad and unmotivated. I started off by organizing my sewing room and just now I'm starting to sew something. I'm such a homebody in the first place that I didn't think this would affect me much but I'm an empath and feeling everyone's feelings right now!

That video just made my day. Thank you Rachel. I’m from Germany and people are going crazy (like stealing toilet paper out of someone elses trolley crazy). Unfortunately I can’t work from home...but oh well. We’re gonna get through this. I’m spending my time rewatching a few tv shows and movies and writing my book (a fantasy novel). Just everything to avoid thinking too much about what’s going on on this planet. I hope everyone here is safe and healthy. Lots and lots of love and hugs Sabine P.s. shout out to this cute green roller :D

My sense of guilt comes from the fact that I've been unemployed for several months now with the justification that I'm "working on a lot of creative projects," whatever that means. Now that (seemingly) everyone else is cooped up at home, I have no excuse to sit around and do nothing. I think some part of me thought I had an edge because I wasn't "wasting my time working a 'real' job." Thing is, I was wasting my time addicted to KZbin. Watching other people succeed without trying it for myself and getting horribly bored but feeling unable to do anything else. However anchored in reality, the thought that everyone else is now doing the same thing I'm doing no longer makes me feel special, woke, or other words that encapsulate my desire to defy societal norms. A person will find pride in their way of life no matter how unproductive or unfulfilling it actually is. My struggle continues, with a steady 2% increase in mental health.

I am now beginning to realise just how much work teachers do, and the amount of effort the put in to teach our children. I have 3 kids under 10 and I have had to start teaching them at home this last week, as schools here in the UK are closed. But it has given me an opportunity to see how great they are at there jobs, getting the kids new work each day to do at home.. truly amazing! I am forever grateful for the job they do 💜

Yay! Glad you finally were able to get your video up! I always look forward to your videos! I am lucky enough that I already work from home, so not too much has changed for me - but I totally understand that feeling of I should be doing more right now. I actually struggled with that when I first moved to working from home - I had 2 extra hours in my day because I wasn't commuting! Something that helped me was a tip I stole from Frannerd - making a 'This week would be great if...' list. And I only list 3-4 things. And they aren't things that NEED to be done, just something I would like to make time for... like painting, or planning a sewing project. Something bite-sized. Also, I too have 2 dogs that bark at everything. Our aussie Odin is very upset that EVERYONE in our neighborhood is home.

I haven’t sewed anything useable since middle school. Im 34 today, meaning it’s my actual bday today, few days ago I decided to pull out my sewing machine and make mask to donate to healthcare workers. As you keep your sense of normalcy by listening to podcast and such, I do the same when I watch your videos. Thanks for all of the awesome, funny, inspiring and positive content 🤗

Virtual hugs from Italy darling... 🇮🇹❤️ I'm lucky enough to have none of my beloved ones infected, but the situation in my country is going quite bad. Please do not underestimate this virus, it spreads quicker in colder weather and staying at home is the best way to prevent its expansion. I agree that is horribly boring to stay home, but it is a small sacrifice compared to those that are made by health institutions and patients every day. All it takes to save the day is to stay home and avoid emptying supermarkets... We can do it! 💪

@@teerecords thank you so much for your kind words... Rome (where I live) is thankfully one of the cities in Italy with fewer cases, but everybody is really scared and tense. I'm seeing the evolution of the virus in US and my thoughts go to all of you! Let's hope this crisis passes quickly! 🙏

It's such a weird time for my little family. I started my displacement time from my job yesterday (I've known for a while, so that wasn't a suprise). But the big change is that we were/are moving to Texas to be near my husband's family. Unfortunately we have kind of indefinitely put that on hold until this situation gets more resolved because his parents and extended family are high risk and we don't want to accidentally bring something with us. I've also had to cancel my trip to New York and Boston and to visit my family. It's so hard to not know when we can travel again or for me figure out my next venture. In the meantime, I will be sewing my Edwardian wardrobe and Salvador Dali/surrealist costumes for my husband and I for a gala that may or may not happen in May. Also, starting my blog on history and jewelry that I've been planning for a while. As always, love your videos and look forward to keeping you part of my new routine.

My secret is; i am a student (currently at home till april 6th) in the field of invitro cellulair biology, i am not specialised yet so we cover all kinds of cells and things related to it, in januari we covered SARS and MERS extensively; those are both of the Corona family, then like a month later Covid-19 hit. We planted a spontaneous late garden this year with surprisingly good results, I sewed some new doll clothes, played lots of Skyrim, and I just started sculpting smol bird ornaments (like the mini Hallmark ones) out of apoxie sculpt and it's been fun 😊 a lot of unfortunate and difficult things have been going on, too, but I'm really trying! Hugs to everyone 💕

I have 3 kids I now have to homeschool for the rest of the school year 😭! I haven't had time to do any sewing which helps me relax. Both my husband and I work at hospitals. My hours have been severely reduced. I work per diem, he works full time. We work in Radiology. He's high risk of exposure to corona patients and they are running low on masks so I thought I would sew some! It won't replace an N95 mask, but hey anything helps 🤷♀️? Anyway, that is my plan. A way to help out and soothe my anxiety. I have 3 kids under 9. Send wine.👍🍷

I have a similar feeling of guilt when I don't do productive things. What I have come up with is that in the morning I must do ANYTHING important and productive and put mu whole heart into this, then acknowledge it and congratulate myself, and the rest of the day is as busy as I feel. I've been at home for six weeks now and this metod does wonders, I highly reccomend it for anyone who struggles with having stuff done. :)

So. I have PKD, policycistic kidney disease. Quarantined since March 10th, and my doctor says I have to start dialysis on Friday. 4% function. Great during a pandemic . One of my favorite activities is to daydream! Adult pretending, visualizing my body healing and going on mind adventures. Or revisiting past experiences I love from my life. I think of it as "constructive relaxation". As an actor, I will visualize past plays and do a run through in my head. My husband is an artist, and his studio is in the backyard , fun visiting. And dogs and cats are good company. And calling friends. Making junk journals. Here in Virginia we can do gardening. Cooking really yummy food that is healthy for kidneys. And watching you Rachel! I think Audrey would be pleased.

Hi Rachel, When this all started to get bad the first thing I did was literally come to your page and look for a new video, it wasn't there yet but a few days later here you are and let me say just seeing your face and watching a nice video hearing about your updates was so nice, so calming, and just made my nerves fall away. Thank you for being the little bit of peace I needed today :)

Yes! I think we are all going to have to give ourselves a bit of a break. I feel guilty for not using this time for sewing but this is new for me and new for a lot of people. And this is a stressful time. I think I will get to sewing but I’m not going to force it. I have gotten outside for a lot of walks with my dog since it’s been sunny here in Washington state (so rare!). I will take little victories. Thank you for sharing a bit of your life and how things are going for you.

It's so nice to hear you verbalizing a lot of the same things that I've been feeling. After a week of telecommuting, I find that my own creativity is in the toilet because I'm doing my IRL job from my crafting space and I just don't want to spend any more time there than I need to. I did make a new cat bed for my sister's cat so he can snooze on her desk while she's working. He's actually using it and it's not every day that a cat actually appreciates something you give it, so I'm taking it as a win!

Tips for this time. Journaling, pick up a new hobby, gardening, try a new recipe, read the books you never have time for, just sit down and watch nature enjoy the lack of humans and cars, baking, do an early spring clean. Draw, play a board game. I've no Netflix, no cable, only a few console games and a whole lot of hand work hobbies I can do. I never get bored and if I get bored I'll let it happen, lay down on the couch and let my mind drift for ideas (redirect your thoughts if they go towards anything related to the virus) I just found out I'm asthmatic after a year of struggling with health and four years on disability law (mental disorder) and I never had a day I was struggling with having days and days on hand to fill. Keep setting goals, go to Coursera to learn something, learn a new language....so many possibilities! Oh and if you're a family person, facetime is a great feature to see family and friends💜🖤
