That’s what I do Lynn. My hubby isn’t a real soup lover but I make a big pot and can it into pints or I freeze the leftovers into ziplock bags freezer bags and it helps on busy days, or when I’m too tired to cook from scratch. Of course, I think I have an unhealthy obsession with soups.🤭

It's so funny you say that about your husband's sweatshirts. My husband says the same about all the sweater/cardigan/flannels that I have. I really need to go through my clothes. I was given so many clothes. I'm holding on to pants that don't fit around my mid section anymore. There is a lot going on. 😂 My husband is the same with all of his old man thrifted shirts! 😅 We definitely need some time to declutter together.

I’ve been on a decluttering kick too! I think January is the perfect month to go through and purge after the influx of things from Christmas. 😊 I dropped off a trunk load of stuff to the thrift store today and it felt so good - like a burden being lifted!

My closet got cleaned out this way... i turned all hangers backwards. In 1 yr, except for yearly or bi-yearly cloths, weddings funerals etc., the hangers that didnt get turned, were gotten rid of. No excuses. You didnt wear it in a year, 4 seasons, so its gone. I opened 1/2 my closet up. 😊❤

@@Oursweetsunnydays I'm a pack rat. But I also don't like getting rid of perfectly good clothes. So knowing I had to get rid of stuff, I did the easiest for me to do. When it was time, I freaked out. But held strong.

You and I must be on the same brain wave right now! I've been doing a slow but extensive declutter of our house lately, and then yesterday, I did a deep clean of our fridge. Today I'm wiping down my kitchen cabinet doors while watching our toddlers and cooking, and I pulled up this video for something to listen to while I work, and you are doing a lot of the exact same tasks that I have been! Maybe it's a winter thing.

I faithfully believe that having too much is another form of a sin of gluttony. I've discovered that giving away everything that I don't wear or use makes me feel so good. Trying so hard to just keep only what we need and use has helped our cluttered problems. 😂😂😂😂 Soups, when I make soup and don't feel like having it for leftovers, I'll put it in a freezer safe bag or container, freeze it, that way I have a meal for those day's that i just don't feel like cooking or for the kid's when mom and dad need a date night. I wish I could score a fridge like yours.

We still enjoy homemade soups despite only two of us now. I only make soups that can be frozen & still taste good. Past several years, now that we live only 6 miles from Costco, I’ll buy two rotisserie chickens at $5 each. Carve at home reserving whole breasts with skin retained. Using all dark meat for soups & then making bone broth for soup base. This makes meal planning simple. For $10, several chicken Cesar salads, sandwiches or hot chicken dinner paired with vegetables. Then I’ll make: Italian Wedding soup, chicken noodle soup, chicken tortilla soup, creamy chicken wild rice & mushroom soup…..the possibilities are endless with chicken. I freeze soup once cooled in 1 quart freezer ziplocs. I’ve been procrastinating doing my clothes closet & drawers….maybe this weekend when it’s expected to snow. 🤷♀️

One thing you can try, instead of the soup, is to make your rice with coconut milk or water, to get that coconut taste, then just cook your chicken and whatever veggies you might like in your rice bowl.

Due to space constraints in our closets, we follow the 1 in 1 out rule. If you buy or get a new shirt, get rid of one that you already have. We also don't buy more hangers to accommodate extra clothing. If we haven't worn it in a year it goes away. I know that my drawers will fit 6 bath towel sets, when I ask for new bath towels I donate the old ones to the local animal shelter. We have also donated older kitchen items to university/college food banks, we have donated food as well but kitchen items are usually a hot commodity for students or staff in need.

When I make a big batch of soup, we'll have it again later on in the week, and I freeze a portion for those days I just don't feel like cooking, and my future self thanks me profusely. You all don't do leftovers?

Oh we do! And we often freeze soups! They just aren't our fave :)

SOUPS: Now that my children are gone and I'm cooking for two I understand what you mean about leftovers. You end up having soup every day for several days. But most soup freezes well. I'm sure that Thai Chicken Soup would. Have a bowlful each. Freeze the rest in two bowl containers or bags. Then some busy day you can just pop that frozen soup in a pan to reheat. Instant lunch or dinner. Currently I have tomato, minestrone, bean/bacon, and chili in my freezer waiting for their turn.
