A good tip for the battery life on your kindle is to keep it on Airplane Mode so it's not constantly searching for wifi/bluetooth. I find that keeps my kindle alive longer!

For markers I recommend Crayola Super Tip markers the 100 ct. They come with a lot of colors and cheap too. I’ve been using it for years and don’t really bleed through the pages. I hope this helps.
