Always nice with modding videos, never too many of them lol. Great idea with the Alpinist dial, quite unique mod IMHO.

To be fair though. The alchemist is a homage much older design.... Just adding the inner rotating bezel. Same design as the Oris big crown pointer date. Spacing out the name of it. But it's a classic.

I'm completely on board with this. My eBay is full of watched old seikos, solely for harvesting them for their components to use in mods. Love it 😀 🙌🏻

Great stuff as usual!!! Wow, where did you get the Seiko Alpinist dial?
@cecilyau4440 Жыл бұрын
It’s about time, Zeb! 😁. I’ve seen all your tutorials, so this talk through was perfect. I have several Seiko 5’s that I want to upgrade to NH35/6, but it was getting a compatible crown for the NH stem that has always stopped me. But now I know what to look for! Incidentally, in the past, I have downgraded to a 7S36 since I had a day-date dial but no NH36 handy. Fortunately, the 7S movement can use a NH stem. Like new software, the NH stems are apparently backward compatible to 7S 👍😁.
@TheWatcherReviews Жыл бұрын
I dont think the stems are backwards compatible u know, i have checked it
@cecilyau4440 Жыл бұрын
@@TheWatcherReviews Hmm . . . that’s weird. I swapped in a 7S day-date movement in a NH36 watch (needed the NH36 movement for another build). I kept the NH36 crown and stem untouched, and it locks into the movement and adjusts the day/date and time without a problem. I decided to try it because I thought I read somewhere that the NH stem works in 7S movements. Maybe I’m just lucky 👍😁

@@cecilyau4440 yea that's right but not the other way round
@cecilyau4440 Жыл бұрын
@@TheWatcherReviews Got it. We’re on the same page. And yeah, the only reason I downgraded from a NH36 to a 7S36 is because that’s all I had, and I wanted to use the NH somewhere else. Maybe I should just start keeping an inventory of NH35/6 in my watch mod drawer like you 😉👍😁
@TheWatcherReviews Жыл бұрын
@@cecilyau4440 yeh you should keep a few, they're not that expensive now and specially before some other BS makes them go up. £25 on some stores on ali

I really want to build my own watch. An SKX 007, cause I was not in the watch game when they were affordable and readily available. I've been looking on aliexpress, seikomods and namokimods, but I'm not sure which parts to actually get.

Go for it! The only “bad” result is that you might not want to stop building and modding watches. That’s what happened to me 👍😁

@@cecilyau4440 😂 I'm gonna, once I can figure out exactly what I'm looking at when looking at parts, what exact parts I need.
@cecilyau4440 Жыл бұрын
@@Tom_H327 For what it’s worth, my favorite sources for parts are as follows: Dials - NamokiMods, TheYobokies; Hands - DLW Watches (great selection, and they allow you to mix and match styles), NamokiMods. AliExpress has incredible selection, but in my experience, the quality runs from poor to excellent, so you may or may not be happy with what you get. Good luck! And for the record, I really enjoy the mod/build hobby (too much 😉😁)!
@Tom_H327 Жыл бұрын
@@cecilyau4440 Thanks for the tips. When considering Aliexpress; does price equal quality? Or is it really just a roll of the dice? 🎲
@cecilyau4440 Жыл бұрын
@@Tom_H327 In my experience, for hands, higher price does mean better quality. For example, < $15 tends to look okay but the lume is bad, but the $30 hands I got from the Heimdallr store were well-finished with good lume. For dials, I’ve only bought the cheaper ones (< $20), which were poor to okay. So for now, I spend a bit more to get them from Namoki and TheYobokies. Hope this helps!
