Hi there! Hope you don't mind this random, 5 month late comment :') If I wanted to take the Alishan Forest Railway train on the branch line, would I also have to book the train ticket in advance or could I just purchase the ticket on the spot? I'm planning to stay in Chiayi and just do a day trip up to Alishan rather than stay there overnight

I purchased mine the day before and it was fine, but im not sure if it’s because i went on a weekday with less tourists. I have heard that tickets can sell out so you can choose to reserve online and pick up at the window

I visited in the first week of april, so i was still able to catch the tail-end of the cherry blossoms

unfortunately, it was SUPER foggy and cloudy during the days that i was there, so i wasn't able to see anything past 4pm

Hi. What do you think about the hotel? And the alishan tea house no 35? Did you spend much time there? Because the video was very short 😂

The hotel was fine. It’s older but did the job, and it had an elevator which was nice. I spent maybe an hour at the teahouse but mostly because i was still waking up and defrosting from the sunrise hike. There’s a nice garden below the teahouse to walk around in that I didnt get to show, but for quality of tea - as i mentioned in the video, i thought it was just alright. There wasn’t anything too fancy about it. The location of the teahouse is definitely its most appealing factor

I wouldn’t mind staying there again seeing as how its also one of the cheaper options. In my own research, I did read that the Shermuh hotel is one of the newer ones and that was actually my first choice but all the rooms were booked when i looked :(
