I'm not at all into reptiles but this video was so interesting. Such a cool expo.
@Anishenanigans4 жыл бұрын
The reptiles are only in the small containers for a few hours during the expo. The hobbyists who take their stock to expos are very caring owners with lots of experience. At conventions, dealers have a very limited table space to set up in. This means they may have to use smaller tanks/carriers, and put animals that can be together in large batches. Most of them wouldn't do it to "make you feel bad", they do it because of space limits.

Filipa Dias These creatures are kept in such small containers as a way of prompting more people to buy them. It's a psychological tactic; but after the convention, they are placed back in their original (and much, much bigger) terrariums.

Do poison dart frogs loose their "poison" when they're captive bred?
@mcalero84327 жыл бұрын
Kristina Burgos yes. They get their poison from the insects they eat in the wild, but since they are fed differently in captivity they become harmless.
@tina71517 жыл бұрын
Matthew Calero thank you
@dragom20097 жыл бұрын
sure about that? what i hear is that their poison goes down but they still ale to synthesize it.
@mcalero84327 жыл бұрын
dragom2009 Well Solid Gold, many people in the comments section and Google all say the same thing as me so I'm pretty sure. I also doubt they would be as prominent in the pet trade if they could synthesize the poison themselves. Actually, it would probably be illegal to own them.
@lakw44077 жыл бұрын
I'm not completely sure where I read it, so it may not be true, but I read that they were poisonous to their prey and some insects they ate made them more poisonous to humans

I've been looking more into tarantula and I decided to come back to this hoping I could figure out what it was. It's a Euathlus sp. red (Chilean Flame) she's right these guys a known for being very docile. I'm getting a Brachypelma Hamorii (Mexican Red Knee)

I love snapping turtles! My dad found a baby alligator snapping turtle on the side of the road with no pond nearby so he brought it home in a little container. We had to buy a $300 terrarium to keep him in, but he was fun to have! I named him Snappy and we released him about a few months later when he got bigger. Don't worry, my dad had some exotic water animals as pets growing up so him knew what we needed to take care of him until we released him.

Please do not house leopard geckos together. They are a solitary species and housing them together causes them a lot of stress.
@jurassicroom76737 жыл бұрын
Bread Kitty correct bit if you do you should have at least 10 gallons per lizard
@breadkitty44367 жыл бұрын
No they should not be housed together at all, leopard geckos are solitary animals and can be territorial. I have heard multiple horror stories of leos attacking each other to the point of losing limbs, and a lot of them were in 55 gallon terrariums with ample space and were cohoused for years. Why would you even risk it in the first place? Why force animals that don't interact much in the wild to be together? It causes more harm than good and is easily avoidable and unnecessary.
@jessicakelley96957 жыл бұрын
Agree 100%! Leopard geckos are silent agressors so aggression isnt out right visible to most people. So in leopard geckos signs of aggression include cuddling. There is often territorial behavior over hides. Ive seen leos housed together for several years together, even 6 years and being fine until one day they snap and end up with bite marks. Leos are solitary in the wild so why put them together in a cage with limited space?
@bobaparadise94195 жыл бұрын
She houses two females together, that can be fine. When it comes to housing a male and a female, two males, or a baby and an adult will cause issues.
@shainpino43645 жыл бұрын
I have 7 currently all together in a 55 gal tank. They have multiple hides to chose from, but prefer to all cram together in one cave. I've never had any aggression and 3 are male and the other 4 are female. My Albino is the only "loner", but even still goes and joins the gecko cuddle puddle. Mine all love each other and all are from different clutches and are different morphs and ages. Not one issue...ever.

About the leopard geckos, it was obvious in your first leopard gecko video that in your case the leopard geckos need to be seperated. You stated in this video "people are always telling me my leopard geckos need to be seperated but I don't see a problem" when Lucy was obviously less healthy than Sylvia due to her being afraid to eat around Sylvia. Yes, some leopard gecko females can coexist peacefully but this is usually in cases of siblings/ geckos that grew up together- not two adults from different breeders. I hope you have sense separated them and dimmed the lighting (only natural light is needed) and I hope Lucy is healthier.
