I am a registered purebred breeder (not Goldie’s) in Australia, and have watched with smiles as you always have such care and thoughtfulness of Tara. Terra is the best and she’s so good! I spent thousands on my Goldens training and I don’t trust her recall enough to let het off leash yet. Don’t let people make you feel bad about that. You’ve done a rockstar job getting her to where she is and where you are!

My dogs are great recall. A 96 pound royal poodle and a 65 pound Goldendoodle. I DO NOT allow them off leash. Other owners are crappy. You are correct to keep Tara on a lead. It is required in most places I camp but again there’s crappy dog owners who don’t follow the rules. You do you. And you are doing a great job

You do great with Tara and she looks a happy dog with a loving human "mum". I had the same kind of comments about my dogs and I do not care. All my dogs looked at me with love and that's the important thing, in addition to provide them with appropriate foods and safety. Thank you to think about other dogs such as reactive. I have one at the moment and free dogs can be an issue. Wish you both to share years of great times.

I run a small animal rescue in Central Cali. Trust me when I say that Terra is experiencing a FABULOUS life and if folks wants to truly see animals in horrid situations, send them my way. I could talk for hours about what we humans are doing to our domesticated pets but I'll spare you. :) Terra is very loved and it's evident. Side note: Not sure if you've visited Mt. Madonna campground but it's beautiful. I spent some time there last summer and again just a few weeks ago. It's super pretty.

As a long time dog advocate and lover (I currently have 4 because I take the ones that have been abused and therefore hard to place), Terra has an AMAZING life!!! She’s living the safest, freest life she can spending all day everyday with her best friend human. Ignore those who would prefer she be alone 8-10 hours a day while her humans go away to work.

You are doing great with the dog. The leash is a positive restraint. Nothing wrong with taking the best care one can with their companions. My cat is used to a leash and a run no mater where I travel. She loves to go for walks even in the rain. I know I would feel terrible if I let her off and something were to happen. Travelling to the far north be it Alaska or the Yukon will require driving on some less than ideal road surfaces. The chip stone they use on the roads can wreak havoc on your tires. Two spares are recommended and enough supplies, food water and heat for a few days are a must. Getting caught out can be life-threatening. I would get in the habit of food prep outside the camper to keep the smells inside the bedroom to a minimum. Keep going.

Terra is living her best life! I think you are providing her a wonderful home and life! We also had a truck/camper combo and then sold it for a trailer. Regretted that decision big time. Sold that trailer for another trailer and hated that one too lol. We are now going back and forth between a an older van we can build out or a truck/camper combo again. We loved the truck/camper combo for all of the reasons that you stated but it definitely had its draw backs. I guess time will tell! Anyway, love your channel. Hey friend its friend Matt from Bend. I recommend a full size spare if you don't have one, plus I just got a RiGD rear tire swing. It will make you life easier if you need to change your tire out in the bush. You can also get a fold down table. Also since your truck has a lift, I'd carry a bigger off-road jack and don't rely on that little one under your rear seat.🤙😊 Cheers

Im currently building a similar rig and I'm also looking to head to Alaska as soon as I can. Your build looks great but the downsides you mention are the reason I chose to build my Suburban into a camper. Lower center of Gravity while having clearance and a real dual speed transfer case 4x4. Your videos are great. Maybe we'll see each other in Alaska someday.

I commend you for keeping Tara on a lead, too many things out there that can kill her, or lure her away, even the best trained dogs have a mind of their own and can never be trusted to do what you want them to do at all the times, believe me you don't want to have to live with something happening to her. What you do with your dog is no one else's business but you own, keep your dog safe and do what you think is best for her, your a better dog parent than some people are as a human parent.

Some people just suck! They just can’t wrap their closed minds around the nomadic life. Our animals get to see and play in new places daily! At night my fur babies sleep with me. We live in the mountainous region of the Kootenays British Columbia Canada lots of wildlife, it works be very irresponsible of me to have her off leash most of the time when we are out and about.
