Hey there everyone and welcome back to the garage! In this video I'm restoring a very rusty and gross vintage Turner Twin Traveler Camp Stove. This 60 year old mess has been buried in the garage for two years waiting for it's turn to shine again. Here's a really cool piece of history about the company - It was founded in 1871 as Turner Brass Works and manufactured gasoline, kerosene appliances. In 1959 they incorporated as Turner Corporation. In 1984, Turner Corporation designed and manufactured the Olympic torch for the 1984 Summer Olympics! The company was subsequently bought by Cooper Tools and the Turner plant in Illinois was closed in 1999.

Matt, this project really touched me. Many years ago,, I had a stove like that and it was my stove when I lived in my wall tent for 5 years. As time progressed, it got dirty, rusted and a little banged up and I tossed it. Had I known you then, I would have sent it to you to fix it up. You did an absolutely beautiful job on it. Thanks for sharing.

great to have you stop by. thanks so much for the kind words! these little stoves were abused and neglected in their time so it's a wonder they even survived!

@@MattsGarage1791 I've got about four or five of the Colemans. I've got 12 lamps...but the stoves keep following me home.

this one is my only restored camp stove so far, several vintage/antique lanterns( even a late 1800s Pennsylvania RR lantern ). also a tastefully cleaned 1943 Coleman US army camp stove.

@Dalesworkshop highly recommended, though it's quite the effort without a proper sandblasting cabinet.
