No, it's just that such crap is not needed now. It is bulky, uses liquid fuel (kerosene, gasoline) and a fabric cord. Besides that, it is not so axisless compared to modern stoves. Have you ever lit a kerosene lamp? If not, then I will tell you from my own experience - the one who does it for the first time is more likely to burn the entire cord and, on top of everything else, can burn down the house. Well, yes, this type of stove requires a very well ventilated room or a powerful hood, because, if you did not know, burning fabric soaked in kerosene produces a huge amount of smoke (which is visible even on video). Agree - not everyone can afford to buy a hood or build a house with huge windows. Overall, the comment is from the series "ah, but it used to be... and the grass was greener, and the trees were taller." This whole "planned obsolescence" crap is another stupid conspiracy theory that has no basis other than nitpicking to the point that things are not made so "reliable" now that "you buy it once - and it will last until your great-great-great-grandchildren." Yes, things break more often now if not used carefully, but this does not mean that there is some kind of "capitalist conspiracy to rake in more money from the common people."

@@lorig4871 agreed. My dream stove is an O'Keefe and Merritt or Magic Chef from the late 1940s, and the reefer I want is the 1956(?) Kelvinator Foodarama. All built back when appliances were built to endure whatever a family could throw at it.
