You are right, its not an accident ☹️. Unfortunately in some states the goal has been to disenfranchise as many people as possible by removing them from the voter rolls for stuff as small as having an inconsistent voting history. Can you guess what many of these states have in common? No matter what state you live in you should get in the habit of making sure you are still on the rolls, that your info is correct, and that you know where your polling place is or what the rules are if you're voting early or by mail instead...all things I had to learn...

Yes, it's important to check your party affiliation as some states are closed primaries.

There needs to be a video about going through the entire process, especially for first time voters.

Aye! Sending love from Alabama! Your videos have been so eye opening. I'm constantly battling with myself when it comes to voting. I tend to vote blue, but in a sea of red, it feels like my vote doesn't matter in the slightest. My partner has lost hope entirely. Trying to figure this stuff out and remedy it.

I was born and live in Portugal. We only need to register to vote once, and we get to be registered for life! Seeing that they don't give you all of the voting options if you don't ask seems appalling to me.

In Maryland poll watchers must come from different parties. Prevents an all red or all blue staff - so we watch each other, too.

I love the way you encourage us to get involved. I just checked with the county elections website for the first time because of you. I am an independent but the sample ballot provided to me is all Republican. I'm not sure how I can see a complete ballot with all candidates running for local office. What should I do?

If you pick general or non partisan in Georgia it's blank too. I've vented on it before. We're not allowed to have cameras or cellphones in the polling locations either. I got kicked off randomly a few times 😅 I don't like changing my mailing address because they will kick you out the registry for the most random reasons.
@DasiaDoesIt5 ай бұрын
It should be illegal for them to not allow you to film. There needs to be election reform on so many levels, you should be afraid to change your mailing address.🥲

Would be interesting to know how to mail in vote, for each state, or even better, how to put it on the ballot (if not still "questions for consideration") for all elections.

Your experience is specific to Tennessee's Primary Election. In order to have access to the candidates in a primary, you must declare a party for that primary. There's some vague wording about being a "bona fide" party member, but Tennessee is an open primary state and you can declare which ever party you wish. The ballot you receive will contain the primary candidates for that party only. If you are a blue dot in a red district, the Democrats may not have a candidate in some local races. *You may have to declare Republican for the primary in order to have a candidate to vote for.* Some local Tennessee races are determined in the Republican primary. In a general election, you do not declare your party and candidates from both parties will be on the ballot. The most recent Tennessee election was a combined primary for state wide races and general election some local races. Also, your friends should have been able to fill out a provisional ballot. The Tennessee Secretary of State has a website where you can check to make sure that your registration is active.

@@Reed5016 it depends on your state! When I was in ca it was just one ballot. You can Google your state plus + sample ballot to see what it looks like. ❤️

@@Reed5016- how did it go? I was inspired by this video. I searched for my county elections and found a link to check if I'm registered. Then I saw the sample ballot and got confused. There are only Republicans running for local office on my sample ballot. Now I have to figure out how to see if any other candidates are running for office. I just want to know every candidate so I can make an informed decision. I'm tired of people wasting time and money banning books when we should be expanding access to libraries. I'm tired of watching middlemen insurance gangsters deny us proper access to healthcare. I hate that I get taxed to death, but the richest men in America don't pay their fair share?!

You almost persuaded me to vote. I just can't. Theres a reason why our ancestors (malcolm X, Fred hampton, MLKJ) were marching against political institutions and not running for offices. Once you are elected you must play the game and us as civilians clearly dont know the rules to that game. I wish i could vote but I cant.
