scott in defense of my generation there's so much misinformation out there in social media that i can understand why some people ( especially teens) do it wrong, they see guys like you saying do proper form with less weight but then they'll see a different dude with the same physique saying do half reps and being dumb and young they'll obviously do the 1 where you go heavier. honestly i think it's time for schools to incorporate proper wight training (teaching form/tension/eccentric) during gym/recess starting in middle school instead of just throwing out some basketballs and telling them to do whatever they want.
@ScottHermanFitness3 ай бұрын
Yeah when I was in Highschool we actually had gym teaching that taught us how to weight train and it wasnt too bad! But most schools dont budget / can't budget for fitness. Very sad!
@Change--Eleven--113 ай бұрын
I agree, I think schools should do this nationwide in America. I am lucky to had been enrolled in a school system that had actual weightlifting classes at different levels that count as gym credit, which was very helpful (gen z here btw). Would be nice to have something like that in more schools.
@8ruc3r3 ай бұрын
Don't think it is generational. I'm 42, and most of my information on lifting has come from here and Athlean-X. There is a lot of poor information out there - not necessarily bad but stuff that doesn't talk about how or why to use half reps or what proper form looks like. The idea that a school would teach lifting at all for anybody other than their athletes is so foreign to me. I do look around the gym and there are very few people working out who I watch and take positive note for their form. Lots of rep cheating or half reps going on.

Frequency is the key to arm growth imo. Quality of work goes down really quickly in a single session, so I never do more than 6 sets for biceps or triceps in a single session. I'm currently on a 3x a week frequency for arms, and have been for about a year. This got my arms to a little under 18" cold and a little over 18" pumped. Not all muscle groups recover at the same rate. It might take 3-4 days for your quads, hamstrings, chest, or back to recover, but it might only take 2 days for your biceps, side/rear delts, or calves. Also, you can still train a muscle if it's not 100% recovered as long as you have a rest day or two per week. I prefer to side on doing a little more than a little less, I think that's the way a lot of top natural bodybuilders train. You're not going to find top naturals doing HIT.
@ScottHermanFitness3 ай бұрын
Frequency is super important, no doubt about it! I like to get a couple of days per week where I include some arm work - but supersets and drop sets have worked amazing for me and I know there will be others who find the same!!

Yo Scott, the only equipment I have is pretty much 2 dumbbels of 10 pouds each and I am 14 years old. Is it good if I just do Bicep Curls and sitting hammer curls?
@StopandThinkMedia3 ай бұрын
Scott, I don’t know which gym you go to or how many different gyms you’ve been to, but 99% of people that I see in the gym are doing cheat reps, touch and go and not full range of motion. Ironically, most of the big guys are the ones doing the bad form. As genetics play a important role in building muscle. The more deviated your form is and you’re getting great results. It’s due to your great genetics. Now that doesn’t mean you don’t have to work hard and give up if you don’t have good genetics. It means you cannot deviate as much with your form. For every one’s Scott on the internet being a fitness influencer and such there are 1000s upon thousands people that are just scamming, don’t know what they’re doing and profiting just for the sake of money and not to help.
@ScottHermanFitness3 ай бұрын
Yeah man, still so much bad information out there. That’s why I have all my videos and articles, so as soon as anyone comes across my channel, they’re going to get nothing but quality!

I think a lot of people don't really care about learning how to do things properly. It's kind of like people performing jobs, whether it's dusting your apartment or working fast food or writing software. Many people just slop things together and take the easiest route rather than taking pride in their work and doing a good job. There's a lot of "who cares" attitude imo. Scott you said you'll be at the next Kamala rally, hopefully I see you there. Just kidding Scott is based. The incline curls are good for the stretch and I used to do them but I've switched them out with behind-the-back cable curls and man those things I like even better. I went a long time with my biceps never getting sore but after starting that exercise, they are pretty much after every arm workout.

The shit thing about tiktok and instagram is the amount of fake nattys giving awful advice, and because they look shredded the new gym goers will listen to their advice.. which won't get them anywhere and often they turn to steroids to help them. Also incline curls are so hard to add weight to!! I can get 12 reps with a weight, go up to the next size DBs which is 1kg more and I can only just get 7-8 reps out.. I love them but they are brutal
@ScottHermanFitness3 ай бұрын
Yeah man.. so many fake nattys spewing garbage information. That’s alright! That’s how you progress - do sets of 8 with that heavier weight, then build it up to 9, then 10 etc.
