Great reaction Jim! It's much more enjoyable to listen to this album in side-by-side vinyl format, as listening to the CD in one sitting was too much for me when I bought it. Now I really enjoy every side, so thank you

I saw them in Hamburg in 2010. Of course Whirlwind was played completely plus All of the above, We all need some light, Duel with the devil, Bridge across forever and Stranger in your soul. How quickly 3 hours can pass 😂 It was a stunning concert!

Although my favourite song of them is Stranger in your soul (maybe one of the best prog songs ever) the Whirlwind is their best album. What a masterpiece.

Just enjoyed rewatching the entire parts 1-4,Jim..thanks so much for reacting to it. So glad you enjoyed it this much! If you do react to The Absolute Universe (hope so!), I hope you have the 'Forevermore' double cd edition. That would be the favored one over the single cd which omits/edits down some of the experience. Cheers, T

I always think of Transatlantic as the four PhDs of prog. This is prog produced by four guys who have a detailed knowledge of what works, what doesn't, what the rules are and when to break them. That could produce sterile rubbish but not only do they know their subject inside and out (record label gag!) they love it to bits. This is as good an answer to the question 'What does prog sound like?' as Close to the Edge is.

Live they are great too. Kaleidoscope is the album title you’re looking for.

Was at the Kentish town concert last year and the band was as tight as a car wheel nut. However it didn't stop a great deal of joviality. A pity they are never going to tour again

Rose Colored Glasses and Is It Really Happening are my favorite parts by far, in what is one of my top 3 prog albums of all time. I miss Mike Portnoy's playfulness in more melodic/easy-going music like this one. Timeless record.

Jim, when might we hear Kaleidoscope? It is also a good listen. Your fan base would that album as well! The Beatles remain my all time favorite group but these guys are not far from that list of favorite groups! Great music! And I mean music with lyrics! Enjoy!

They (Neal Morse ) knows a theme to build on to end an album . No one else does it like he does. Just listen to any of his Spocks ,Neal Morse , (band ) Flying colours .it is not a fluke as he is involved in them all .Flipping Nora indeed , not heard that for years.

What a great album, one of my favorites, I actually like the Absolute universe a little better, if you listen to it, listen to the Forevermore version, the Breath of Life version had some great moments cut out. Love your videos, Have a great day

Great reaction Jim!!! It's midnight here and I've just finished a 12 hour shift. I hope you continue your Transatlantic journey (eventually, after Genesis, Jethro Tull, Yes. Gentle Giant (The Power and The Glory or Octopus).... Ps, I really shouldn't like this band, as a cynical agnostic. Lyrically, it can sometimes be a bit cringeworthy but they somehow win me over with the overall sound and sheer grandeur of the music. I was initially let down with the Absolute Universe until I found the "Ultimate Edition" on Utube. The music and graphics combine to make it a much more enjoyable listen, and maybe, better in some ways, than the Whirlwind. By the way, there are three editions of the album. And now, a live concert recorded for their final tour. Off to let sidecar dog in the house before my neighbors become too annoyed. He barks at every sight and sound in the yard. Cheers and good night.

This album is a danger to me . I dare not put it on unless I have two hours to spare because turning it off at any point seems almost sacrilegious at least to me.
