Bionic Commando definitely. That game aged very well. I was impressed with the Rearmed Remake in that despite the stuff they changed and added to it, the DNA of that game was like 95% the OG NES game. I'd say Rygar is a 5-star game if you play it with save states. The only thing holding it back from being 5-star is that you can't save on original hardware. It felt like a true grand adventure in 8-bit form and only the Legend of Zelda felt the same way for me on the NES.
@jasonking31822 жыл бұрын
Playing it on the Switch online for the first time and it definitely a five star game. I couldn’t imagine playing it without the ability to save though.
@kintozero31692 жыл бұрын
I loved Rygar for the NES, for me it is up there with Metroid & Castlevania 2 as not just a great game, but an early example of a metroidvania. The lack of saves is an issue, but its not the end of the world since you can beat the game in about 5 hours. The main negative point against the game for me was, you could softlock yourself if you entered a boss room underpowered. When you die & continue, you respawn in the boss room, and you could wind up in a situation where you are too weak to beat the boss but locked in the room. This happened to me several times with area 2's spider boss. The strategy is, early on, to head to the sky area with the robots & grind them over & over until it only takes like 1-2 shots to kill them. Then you'll be strong enough to complete areas 2 & 3 before heading back to 4 with the grapple hook.

I’ve legitimately played Blades of Steel throughout every phase of my life. That is absolutely a five star game. Beyond iconic, and to this day will elicit rivalries between friends that are hard to surpass in any competitive medium.

Metroid, Megaman 3, Battle of Olympus, Zelda 2, Shadow of the Ninja (aka Blue Shadow) and Solar Jetman would be the only NES games I would rate 5 out of 5 stars.

I love Metroid, don't get me wrong, but it's way too flawed to be 5 star imo. I do think Super Metroid was a 5 star game though. I was admittedly a bit too young to play Metroid when it was first released so I'm unsure about how people felt about it at the time. It was definitely a first of it's kind.

There are a lot more than that!

@@xenos_n. I was 7, maybe 8 when I played Metroid the first time. Up until then I had only played games that was light hearted and colorful like the Mario games and Tetris. Or games that was about adventure like Zelda of Castlevania, kind of dark at times sure, but still fairly cheerful. Metroid had this dark, strange, alien atmosphere where you delve into the depths of a hostile planet, all alone and lost in a maze of tunnels filled with strange enemies. Everything you meet wants to kill you and resources were scarce. There were no truly safe areas where you could rest and recover. You felt underpowered, overwhelmed and always had the feeling you were somewhere no human had any reason to ever be. The feeling of horror and dread that Metroid created at the time, for someone who had only played cheerful games before, was incredible and oh so exciting for a young child who had never experienced anything remotely similar before. No other game has managed to recreate that feeling that Metroid managed to create, and that is why it is definite 5 star game for me.

The Guardian Legend should be a 5 star NES game. It’s great and definitely underrated.

Master Blaster! It's also my favorite book based on an NES game from the Worlds of Power series.

Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball is still my favorite arcade sports game of all time. The ridiculous characters, their superpowers, and the quirky rules from the different fields are perfect.

I haven’t played many NES games but out of the dozen or so I have played, my three favorite games by far are Castlevania, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Batman! Tiny Toon Adventures is really good too. I like it ALMOST as much as those three.

I’m sitting here editing my next video, watching this video. John, there’s several games here that I remember playing at my friends’ houses back in the day. Most still hold up today. Good stuff.

My pick for obscure 5-star game: Magic of Scherazade. It's the only game I know of from any generation where you can take out loans to take night classes, bribe the professor to pass you, have a loan shark come kill you for not paying off your loan, continue, and pay off your loan by going into the past, planting a money tree, and returning to the present. Also, the plot twist at the very end is my favorite plot twist of any 8-bit game ever, and the only puzzle I can think of in a JRPG that makes you pay attention to the story. :)

TMNT II - The Arcade Game, Mega Man 3 and Chip`n`Dale are 3 more Games that I also would personally put on a 5 Star List.

My 5 star game is bionic commando. I wish it was a tiny bit more difficult but it's fine I'll play it again and again. It's unique, engaging, and the music is great too.

I am continually amazed by how many people love DuckTales. I had the game as a kid (still have it, in fact), and absolutely loved it, but literally no one else I knew at the time had it, or particularly liked it when they played mine. Definitely a five star game IMHO.

Mega Man 3 was always my favorite Mega Man game, so I definitely think it's a 5 star game. It had everything that made 2 great, and introduced Rush, Protoman, and the slide move. I'm also surprised Metroid didn't make the 5 star list. While the sequels improved on the formula, I still think the original is one of the best games on the NES.

Monster Party, was such a cool and creepy game with excellent music. Maybe I haven’t looked very hard, but I don’t see many people talking about Monster Party. Blaster Master another cool game with amazing music. Mario 2 and Zelda 2, awesome memories of watching my sister play.

Super C needs to be a 5-Star game. It is on par or better than Contra in every aspect. I'd also add The Guardian Legend because of how unique it is by combining adventure gameplay with shooter gameplay.
@wargameboy7210 ай бұрын
There's a lot of 5-Star games left out of that list, like.... Kick Master, Isolated Warrior, TMNT 3, RECCA, Gradius 2, GunNec, Crisis Force, Super Spy Hunter, Metal Storm, Super Dodge Ball, Castlevania 3, Bucky O'Hare, Blaster Master, Blades of steel, Pro Wrestling. And that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there's more.. Anyway, I really enjoy these videos. Thanks for taking the time to make them.🤩👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
