Glad he finally got to the Goonies idea. That was the first thing that popped into my head given the setting.

The other thought I had was the party might have to take an arch to get to the ship and once on board it they discover that it's actually a damaged spelljammer marooned in wildspace.

Often I laugh at Future Charles and curse the things that Past Charles has done to hurt Present Charles.

This is great and just in time; I've started a new Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign and the last session ended just before the PCs finished clearing the Haunted House; there is a delay of a month in-game before the next part of that adventure during which the PCs will have a chance to go on some Lazy DM companion one-shots. I've prepped an apocalypse now /heart of darkness oneshot and I might just steal what you are prepping here! ( by the by; the first sesh I ran with this group was the Filthy Peasants from Arcadia 9 which I'd HIGHLY recommend to everyone)

Shadow knights could pose a challenge because they can walk through walls. It's hard for the party to keep up with that. What might do is make the "vault" surrounded by bright light. Then, when the party gets into the chamber, their shadows turn out to be the BBEG.

Every heist needs a NPC guy who betrays the team at the last possible second, thats all I'm saying. Something like a safe cracker or somebody who has to do something to get the team in where they need. If I was running that game, he sounds like Peter Lorre, but thats just me.

I'd change the "The Black Hand gave the Night Claws a powerful weapon with which to protect the scroll." for "The night claws keep buying more food than what they can consume, way more food"

I can't help but think you should have some bandits posing as cultists who later scoff at the idea.

Just as a historical note. Ships were almost never bespoke. There was a design “class” and ships were built to that specification. So reusing the same ship over and over makes far more sense than every ship being unique

This might be too late. But there are ship maps in dragon heist.

Is this really how you normally end your preparations? You have all components: maps, enemies, traps, treasure and secrets, but not how they are linked to each other. So how will you run it? Do the players first enter a room and then you pick a random element that you prepared and then improsive a description with them in the scene? Maybe I missed something in the video. I usually write which elements are present in which room in advance and only improvise how the elements react to PCs actions.

I fill things in as I go depending on what happened. Situations are dynamic. Sometimes monsters are in a room, sometimes they’re wandering about. I think about the whole situation and run it as one big thing instead of room by room. Check out slyflourish.com/letting_go_of_defined_encounters.html

Treat the Scroll of Levistus like a Philosopher’s Stone a la Fullmetal Alchemist. Grants a boon of some sort once per week, or whatever fits your fancy. It would certainly be an artifact of you go that route, but there are lots of non-artifact power levels you could go with

You keep hyping this City up anymore, and I'm gonna have to start running another campaign. And I don't have time to be running yet another, darn you, lol

What if the scroll is somebody else's deal and got to get hands on it for a reasons
@GryphonDes2 жыл бұрын
So Fun -- too bad you didnt hit on the scroll of Levistas being detailed LINEAGES for hitherto unknown Tieflings -- i.e., pure political blackmail fodder !!!! That could upend the known power structures within the city of Arches in an instant.
