Having 2 pieces at the back is actually alright, there's a technique called the burrito method (we call it like that in France 🤷) that allows you to cover all the edges without over-stitching, you should check it out :)

Fun thing for threading through, if you put a string in the waist band before you sew it, you can then use the safety pin trick BUT you tie the string to the safety pin and pull it through and it saves you the headache of pushing the elastic through the waist band…. If that makes sense😅

You did the steps in a bit of an odd order which makes inserting the collar harder. The collar is meant to be sandwiched between the 2 back yoke pieces ( and sandwiched between the front bodice and front facing) so there won't be any raw edges or visible seams showing. The usual order of steps for collared shirts is 1. shoulder seams 2.attach collar to neckline 3. attach front facing to shirt 4. back yoke lining 5. side seams 6. insert sleeves. Then hems and buttons/buttonholes. step 5 and 6 can be switched in order , it works equally well both ways.

The top back piece is called a yoke. The same word yoke is also used for the upper back piece of jeans, you know when there is that diagonal seam above the back pockets- that is a yoke too.

It gives more room for movement and shoulder blades, because usually the lower back has some pleats or gathers where it attaches to the back yoke.

Weird thought all of the clothes that we buy from the goodwill and Salvation Army and other places. We’re once fast fashion so are we just continuing the cycle?
@lestranged3 жыл бұрын
no. because if it does not get used again it will go to the landfill so using it again is good, and also you won't need to buy brand new clothes which decreases demand for brand new fast fashion.

Hi Jenna, I pray that this finds you & your family doing well today. This was a great video & I want a sewing machine sooo bad. But I don't have one sadly. I think that making your own clothing is really cool. I left you a message on IG a week ago. I went thrifting on Monday & I thrifted my 1st pair of Converse Chuck Taylors that are green. And they had a pair of Af1's & a pair of Doc Martens but they were too big 😞! But I did find a pair of white canvas & leather Addidas sneakers. And I've really been buying a lot of 60's & 70's clothes. Thanks for the video & all of the videos that you post. Plz give Benson Big hugs & Kisses from me & my lil guy Chase. May Abba Father Always Bless, Protect, and Watch Over you & yours Abundantly in Jesus Christ Almighty's name I pray, Amen!

No need for manual button holes. Set stitch width to very narrow & tight & sew the outline in zigzag & seam rip the hole
@joanneswinehart49763 жыл бұрын
I think she has the same machine I have which is a Brother 1500, it does not have a zigzag option. But it is an incredible machine, I love mine, industrial strength, will sew through anything !
